Yesterday I took it upon myself to paint my nails. Shocker! But I didn't know what to do so I decided to go with the 'Ruffian'.

This is what www.lacquerized.com says about it:
This manicure is created by Creative Nail Design (CND) especially for the NYFW Ruffian Fashion show.

Since then everybody has been calling this manicure the Ruffian, or Ruffian inspired, manicure.

Although it has been around for a few months now, I still think it's hot! It's like the revamped funky french if you ask me.

She also did an amazing 'How To' post. This is the technique I used to do mine:

I thought this was going to turn out like one big mess. It wasn't that bad actually. The diagram above, is how I paint my nails anyway. I just had to remember not to cover up all of the base coat.

For this I used M.A.C's Shirelle and O.P.I in Black Onyx.

Now before you enlarge the pictures, I left them big for a better look, you should know I hate O.P.I. They're too thick and just generally gross in my opinion. I find they take ages to dry and as I didn't have Seche Vite last night, I used a nail dryer. Big mistake.

The result? My nails have more bubbles than an Aero.

Let's just overlook the bubbles and the scraggly cuticles though, yes?

It was all done free hand. The O.P.I had a Pro Wide brush, which is great an all but not when you're trying to do a Ruffian.

I also think it would look much better on longer nails. I'm still waiting for them to grow a bit yet, I think they look ugly (on myself) short. :(

What do you think though?
