A Really Tiny M.A.C Haul.

This is just a really quick haul. Much as I love M.A.C I want to try other stuff so i don't really plan on buying anything major from them besides Superglass.

As I was pretty much out of MoistureLush I had to make an order and picked up a couple of other things I've been wanting for a while.

I picked up two of the Studio Moisture Creams as MoistureLush was/is sold out and I really can't wait. My skin is dead.

I finally decided to get Viva Glam GaGa and Pink Nouveau. Had a bit of a problem with my GaGa casing at the moment though so hopefully M.A.C can fix that problem.

I just wanted to quickly point out that M.A.C are also switching over to printing the names on their boxes rather then using stickers. I can't remember when they started doing this as I really cannot remember what the Spring Forecast Lipsticks were like.

Anyway, anyone tried any of these? Namely the Lipsticks, did you likes? I can't wait to try them!

Petite French Konadicure.

It's been months since I last did a Konadicure but in my defense, I've had some trouble growing my nails back. I think I've finally found something that is much better at strengthening them then what I was using before.

So, this morning I woke up to a complete surprise package from Eyeko which contained their new polish and Graffiti Eyeliner Pen colours. I noticed there was one in there that said 'for French nails'. I have been meaning to get a pale pink that's suitable for French manicures for ages so I was glad to get this.

Bare nails:

I really dislike having bare nails. I'm not sure why I just really don't like my natural nails. Especially since I got that peel on my ring finger which I refuse to file down, but it's still going strong!

As I'm back to work tomorrow I decided I'd try and do a French manicure using my Konad. I've only tried the M19 tips a few times and each time, it's been a total disaster so I really wasn't expecting this to come out.

Two coats of Eyeko Petite Polish applied over Konad M19 tips in Konad Special White Polish:

The index finger tip is a bit off but it really isn't that noticeable in person. I just find it harder to do tips on shorter nails. Hurry up and grow!

Not the most thrilling Konad in the world, I know. But it's simple and I really like it.

Now I've got the hang of these I wouldn't dream of going to a salon and paying £20 and upwards for a French when I can quite easily do it myself. Granted, it's not completely perfect but all in good time, right?

Do we likes?

Payday Purchases / A Surprise.

This is a bit of a half hearted and different post from me today. I had days off work this week and I promised myself I'd put up a new post everyday - a substantial one. Not a rubbish little 'ohai look at my eye. Kbaiiii!' kind of post.

But I'm tired. I don't feel well and I just want to sleep. So, I went to town a few hours ago because I got paid and I needed retail therapy. Specifically went for something in Boots, which of course they didn't have. I had to buy something though, so I got some things I've been wanting for a while.

Lots and lots of reading material. ♥ I've heard nothing but good reviews about The Lovely Bones. I decided to get the old version and not the movie related one as more often then not, movies just go and spoil it. ;)

I started reading The Lovely Bones when I got home and have been since. So far it's a really good read. I just wish I didn't have the attention span of a 5 year old because I can't just sit still and read it for hours, I have to do other things as well.

Anyone else read any of these books? Love/hate? Let me know what you thought.

I got GOSH Rainbow polish from Superdrug because it's been doing it's rounds and it looked super pretty in the bottle. And I hear, unlike glitter, it is not a total bitch to remove, so yay!

I also got some random New Look headbands, mainly for the lace one. But hey, they were cheap. ;)

And something I have been meaning to get since it came out but I am terrible with DVDs and music releases, Family Guy - Something Something Darkside. Another Family Guy DVD to add to the millions I already have.

Now for something I don't ever do. I know some bloggers buy stuff and swatch and review it straight away. I like to take my time, which is why I don't ever do 'swatch previews' (if you will) or anything like that in haul posts.

But since this is really quite special, I'm giving you a tiny little look at what GOSH Rainbow is like.

I did a bunch of random coloured swatches so please excuse the terrible painting and the indents on my index finger. I was trying to see how long it took to dry. ;)

Here it is applied over Dior Vernis in Red Dahlia and you can just see it over Illamasqua's Rare:

Click it and make it bigger and more amazing-er!

Amazing, no?

That's all for today. :) Gonna try and do a FOTD or an EOTD or something something tomorrow for you all.

Asos Haul.

So the other day when I was browsing the Asos site I found some amazing bargains on things I have been after for absolutely ages, so decided to make an order.

The first thing I knew I had to have was Illamasqua's Rare Nail Polish. This is the main colour I have been wanting from them for ages and it was only £6.50. That's nearly half price! Unfortunately my camera doesn't show up the amazing highlighter yellow-ness of it.

Next up was the Marian Newman Inkredibles which I saw in Vogue nearly two years ago now and have been wanting to try ever since. Usually these are nearly £22 for one pack but they were down to £5.50 or something like that.

I got Pewter, Platinum, Fuchsia, Burnt Orange and Purple. I've already briefly swatched these and I can safely say I am so glad I didn't buy them at full price. More on that in another post though.

I've also been after a new pair of flip flops for the Summer since I chucked the ones that I've had for the last couple of years. They were so uncomfy but I still wore them!

Last week Holly tweeted about some super cute new flip flops that she had gotten and they also caught my eye so I decided to give them a try.

They are super comfy and the sizing runs true. I usually have trouble with shoes coz I'm a size 5.5 (occasionally a 6) so I ordered a 6 and they fit perfectly. Love them! Thanks to Holly for showing them to me.

Did you pick up anything in the Asos sales that are going on right now? Let me know.

My Own Private Jet.

If you know your polishes you'll probably know about the whole controversy over the new O.P.I's My Private Jet. This was released, initially, as limited edition. It came back a while later and the formula had been changed. It was more brown then black and less holographic. A quick Google search will bring you up tons of results and comparisons.

I didn't want to be conned out of parting with my money for a crap version, so I set about making my own.

Both these polishes were bought for that purpose.

O.P.I Black Onyx and China Glaze Wireless Holographic Top Coat:

O.P.I Black Onyx applied with two coats:

One coat of China Glaze Wireless Holographic Top Coat applied over Black Onyx:

For some reason the pictures look pretty crappy small, so click them and make them bigger!

I love the way this came out. Just as I expected. Because the glitter in the China Glaze is so fine, it's harder to pick up the holo-ness more then the China Glaze OMG holos. It's a lot more holo-y in real life.

I'd love to know what you think, especially if you have any of the numerous versions of My Private Jet!

China Glaze - IDK.

This is another one from the China Glaze OMG collection and probably my favorite out of all the ones I have from this collection. It was released at the start of 2009, I believe and was of course limited edition! There is still some places that are selling it online at the moment though.

Applied with two coats:

I find this polish much easier to apply then GOSH's Holographic. I don't find any streaking or bald spots. It's quick drying and lasts a lot longer without a top coat.

It's a light purple with multi coloured holographic-ness. From what I've experienced, lighter coloured holographics show up the holo much better and this is no exception.

These have an amazing look about them, just like the Speciality Glitters but they are a darn site easier to remove. Just like a normal nail polish. I really do love holos and I'm set about tracking down as much of the rest of this collection as I can.

You can also check this polish out in my first ever Konadicure.

What are your opinions on holo polishes? Have any of your own? If so, by who? Let me know.

Lush Hippy Chick Bath Ballistic.

I know this is a little late but someone asked specifically to see a review of this so here it is!

As with any holiday Lush bring out special limited edition products, Easter was no exception. This year they were mostly Ballistics. I have only tried one in the past and it did nothing for me so I wanted to try some more and see if it changed my mind on them.

Unfortunately I can't tell you what the site said as I forgot to paste the information off before it vanished off the site.

Anyway, the main fragrance in this is grapefruit so it's really awakening. As this is a Ballistic it doesn't produce any bubbles so I added a bit of Happy Hippy Shower Gel in as that's also made from grapefruits.

It definitely changed my mind about Lush Ballistics. I really liked this one so it was a shame to have it as limited edition.

I found it really refreshing and the scent lasted for quite a while.

I'm now wishing I'd got some more as they were just under £2 for one, which I personally think is a steal!

Anyone else love this and manage to stock up on them?

George @ Asda - Ultraviolet.

When everyone started posting about these bargain polishes, Ultraviolet was the first one that caught my eye and I knew it'd would be absolutely stunning in the sun. That's why I've waited so long to try this one.

Applied with two coats:

This particular shade is a medium/bright blue with a bright blue shimmer that can look purple depending on how the light hits it.

The formula is quite watery and thin so I had to do two quite thick coats. It was quite quick at drying though so I didn't have to wait around with wet nails for too long.

It's a beautiful colour but there is one major problem:

These photos were taking 18 (give or take a few) hours after application. I was asleep for 9 or so of those. I haven't done any major typing, just my usual amount. That amount of tip wear is insane! It's blindingly obvious in every photo and even more so in real life.

I know for a little over a £1, I shouldn't expect much but I never usually experience tip wear till about three or four days, if I can keep my polish on that long. I have never experienced this much though. Ever.

Maybe it'd last longer with a top coat. We shall have to see when I get round to buying some Seche Vite Restore.

What are your opinions on George polishes? Let me know!

And please excuse the minor cut, my kitty got a bit to scratch happy when we were playing the other day. :(

Feeling Blue? Face Of The Day (Take 2).

I was looking back at some of my old posts recently and came to the conclusion that actually, they are quite rubbish now. They were alright at the time but I feel the way I write has improved and my 'skillz' have definitely improved.

So I'm taking it upon myself to re-do (or make better) some of my old looks. Starting with the Feeling Blue FOTD from October.

M.A.C Moisture Lush Cream.
GOSH Velvet Touch Foundation Primer.
M.A.C Matte Gel.
M.A.C Studio Finish Concealer - NW15.
M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid - NW15.
M.A.C Mineralize Blush Duo - Two Virtues. (LE)
M.A.C Lustre Drops - Pink Rebel. (LE)
M.A.C Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder.

M.A.C Fast Response Eye Cream.
Urban Decay Primer Potion.
M.A.C Eyeshadow - Phloof! (brow highlight, inner corner highlight).
Urban Decay Eyeshadows - Peace (all over lid), Jinx (outer V).
M.A.C Eyeshadow - Electric Eel (crease).
Eyeko Grafitti Eyeliner Pen (upper lashline).
Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil - Electric (lower lashline).
Dior Extase Mascara.
Eylure Romantic Lashes.

M.A.C Lipstick - Snob.

It took me hours, I kid you not, to get these photos. Every single photo I took looked crap. Hence the lack of eye close ups. But I'm tired so I'm forgiven, right?

Which version to we prefer? This new one has my vote and I've already changed the sidebar picture to it coz I loveee it!

Tigi Bed Head Superstar Shampoo / Conditioner.

A little while I ago I came across a blog page or a website or something, it was that long ago I can't even remember! But it was about hair care and how 9 times out of 10, the reason for having irritated hair is down to Sulfate.

This is quite a long quote, but I suggest you read it as it's in 95% of commercial shampoos and conditioners.

'So why is a dangerous chemical like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate used in our soaps and shampoos?

The answer is simple - it is cheap. The Sodium Lauryl Sulfate found in our soaps is exactly the same as you would find in a car wash or even a garage, where it is used to degrease car engines.

In the same way as it dissolves the grease on car engines, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate also dissolves the oils on your skin, which can cause a drying effect. It is also well documented that it denatures skin proteins, which causes not only irritation, but also allows environmental contaminants easier access to the lower, sensitive layers of the skin.

Perhaps most worryingly, SLS is also absorbed into the body from skin application. Once it has been absorbed, one of the main effects of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is to mimic the activity of the hormone Oestrogen. This has many health implications and may be responsible for a variety of health problems from PMS and Menopausal symptoms to dropping male fertility and increasing female cancers such as breast cancer, where oestrogen levels are known to be involved.'
- Source.

Every since I can remember, my hair has always irritated me. Sort of like dandruff but super itchy. I went to the doctors and they prescribed me this disgusting Coaltar shampoo. It didn't work so until now I've been just putting up with the irritating and used different branded shampoos. Until I came across that blog post and decided it was my mission to find a SLS free shampoo.

One of my first results was the Tigi Bed Head Superstar. Which I found for dirt (no pun intended!) cheap from Feel Unique. The 250ml shampoo is nearly £8. And I got 2x 750ml for £21. Bargain right?

I swear there was meant to be a review in here somewhere!

What www.tigithaircare.com say:
You’ve been nominated to become a Superstar! Keeps hair colour safe and gives Superstar volume! Proteins and nutrient rich oils strengthen hair and add shine. It’s a glam slam! Adds volume, body and shine. Unique protein complex helps moisturize and repair. Helps prevent and protect from colour loss.

So the actual product ... It's huge! Hence the last picture, just for size comparison.

It smells amazing, like strawberry sweets. Anything that smells like sweets gets my vote.

I find one full pump of product is enough. Sometimes I add a tiny bit more. Sulfate is what makes other shampoos lather up so much so this doesn't get like that too much.

Unlike previous brands I've used (I'm talking to you Herbal Essences! ¬_¬), it doesn't wash my colour out. It leaves my hair smooth and shiny. I'm not really bothered whether it makes my hair massive. I straighten the hell out of it anyway.

This is definitely something I would recommend to everyone. I'm pretty sure nearly, if not all of Tigi Bed Head's shampoos are Sulfate free so go and buy them and stop using Sulfate!

Eyeko Vintage Polish.

Applied with two coats:

What www.eyeko.com says:
Make like Rachel Bilson and get on trend with the seasons coolest nail shade - jade green! It's a manicure-must-do!

Keeping up with the Spring/Summer nail trends, I decided to try Eyeko Vintage out next.

This colour is total not me, or so I thought. If I were to go into a shop and was asked to pick up any polish I liked, I'd go straight to the brights or the glitters. Until now, I would have avoided any kind of pastels. This is a brighter pastel then some I've seen. It's also somewhat reminiscent of Chanel Jade.

Unlike Eyeko's Purple Polish, this applies smooth with a high shine. There's no air bubbles. The formula is quite thin and watery and it would probably need a good three coats to get it opaque. I dislike doing three coats so I did one thin coat and one thicker coat. This results in average drying time.

So far I've had no chips and a small amount of tip wear.

I actually really like this polish, which I wasn't expecting at all. It's a really Spring like colour and I definitely will be wearing this more!

What are your opinions on the mint nail trends that seem to keep appearing at the moment?

Eyeko Purple Polish.

Applied with two coats:

What www.eyeko.com says:
For a neon update follow in Rihanna’s footsteps and make Eyeko Purple Polish you’re A/W 09 staple for a touch of 80’s glam that will still look hot come Spring!

When I got these polishes, this was the one I was most excited about. I like purple and I like bright.

It's a creme polish that dries semi matte. Which is a pet hate of mine. Either dry super shiny or super matte! Not in between.

Anyway, I painted my nails late last night as the sun was going down so until I woke up this morning, they looked fine. Until I got them under some daylight and noticed all the air bubbles! They're most noticeable if you enlarge the last photo and look at my middle nail. They are far more noticeable in real life than they are in the photos though. I didn't shake the bottle or do anything to it before applying so I'm wondering if it's the formula?! Either way if it wasn't for that, I might like it more.

I'm sure all you beauty bloggers are aware, purples are notorious for colour shifting and not photographing true to life. This is of course the case with this. The colour is a lot deeper and less pink looking.

Overall I have mixed feelings about this polish. It dries quicker then the rest of the Eyeko polishes I was sent and it's a nice colour but the bubbles and semi matte-ness stop me from truly loving something that I thought had the potential to be amazing.

If you have this polish did you have any trouble with air bubbles? Do you like this colour? Let me know.
