Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil - Deviant.

What www.urbandecay.com says:
The best Eye Pencil ever, ever, ever! Never before has a pencil this creamy and brilliant been waterproof, too. Velvety-soft, this never-before-seen formula stays soft and creamy for blending (about 30 seconds), then dries down to a long-lasting finish that WILL NOT budge. Line eyes with a hint of color or go for the full artistic, multi-hued effect with the wide selection of lush tropical hues, deep metallics and unusually vibrant neutrals. Incredible with Urban Decay Eyeshadows!

Created with 50% moisturizing ingredients suspended in a sophisticated waterproof formula, 24/7 Eye Pencils offer long-lasting color and a dreamy, creamy feel when applied. With Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E and Cottonseed Oil.

Tips: 24/7 Eye Pencils are ideal for lining inner lids because the waterproof formula stays put. Just apply, try not to blink for a sec, and you’ve got immovable liner.

Another one of Urban Decay's fabulous pencils. I seriously can't get over these. Beautifully pigmented, buttery soft and come in the most amazing colours.

Deviant is a bold mid tone blue with very teeny silver sparkles.

I love blue eye makeup but I tend to lean more towards bright electric coloured blues, this isn't as bright as something I usually go for but it's such a nice colour.

If I'm wearing a smoky eye and don't want it to look too dark, I just pop this along the waterline and it instantly brightens it up.

The formula, as with all their pencils, is top notch and this is crazy pigmented. I barely had to swipe over the swatch to get a full opaque and even colour.

It seems some people don't like these and say they smudge but I don't have any trouble what so ever and infact, these are the only pencils I can wear on my upper lashline as others just transfer and smudge all over my lid.

What do we think of the colour? It's quite and interesting one, that I haven't seen blogged about.

How do you feel about coloured liners? Love? Hate? Indifferent? Let me know your thoughts.

The Classic Red Lip.

Firstly, I would just like to take this time to remind you how horrible Blogger is. I've been sitting here for ages uploading and reuploading this photo. Every single time it wrecked the quality of it. Why? It's never done that before. So this has taken me longer then intended.

I have managed to temporarily fix it by hosting the photo through TinyPic. Let's hope it doesn't stay like this.

Anyway, I was recently sent some Revlon ColorBurst Lipsticks. I was excited to try them as the only lipsticks I own are from M.A.C.

I love the look of red lipstick. I've just never thought I'd be able to pull it off. Especially considering you need flawless skin to do so.

I think red lips look best when teamed with very subtle eye makeup. I am having literally the worst day today, my eyes are watering like crazy and I flicked Mavala Scientifique in my eye. It hurt a lot. So I didn't really want to do any eye makeup.

No time like the present, I broke out the red lipstick.

Please excuse the extra whiteness, this was the best photo of the bunch.

Face:
M.A.C Studio Moisture Cream.
Illamasqua Matte Primer.
M.A.C Matte Gel.
M.A.C Studio Finish Concealer - NW15.
Revlon PhotoReady - Vanilla.
M.A.C Powder Blush - Well Dressed.
M.A.C Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder.

Eyes:
M.A.C Fast Response Eye Cream.
Urban Decay Primer Potion.
M.A.C Eyeshadow - Phloof! (all over lid).
Urban Decay Liquid Liner - Perversion (upper lashline).
GOSH Intense Lashes Mascara.

Lips:
Too Faced Lip Insurance.
Revlon ColorBurst - True Red.

I was taking photos forever but the foundation was showing up whiter on camera then it does in person. Must be a combination of the light coming through my window and all that glitter reflecting. ;) It did give me an advantage of my skin not looking so disgusting, as it does it right now. Lack of sleep, too much stress ...

I don't have any lip liners so skipped that bit and applied with a lip brush. I then went over it again with the bullet so I could get all that glossy goodness.

What do you think though? I'd love opinions as I'm not quite brave enough to wear this out of the house yet. Not even in the garden.

Too me, it's very 60's pin up look. A little bit Dita Von Teese - esque. But I think I quite like it. It's a very refreshing change to what I normally wear.

I'll do a proper review on the ColorBurst soon!

Illamasqua Cult Products.

I'm a bit late in blogging about this but through out June, Illamasqua have been featuring four cult products each week. With a massive 20% saving for the rest of the week.

I've had a look at them the past couple of and nothing really took my interest. But then I logged on Friday night just to have a 'browse' at all the nice things I wish I could buy right now. I saw 2 main things I have been wanting for ages and since I liked the look of the gloss too, I thought I may as well. ;)

I got the Volt Illumine Body Oil, £25.60 instead of £32. The Matt Primer, £15.20 instead of £19. And Divine Sheer Lipgloss, £10 instead of £12.50.

So if any of these are things you've been wanting for ages, go buy. Now!

I have no idea if they're doing one for the last week but it's worth a look.

Have you picked up any of the cult products? Have you tried any of these things? Love/hate?

Reviews to follow.

Conclusion - RE: Last Post.

When I did those other controversial posts, I didn't do a follow up post after because I didn't feel the need to but for this occasion, I'm going to.

First and foremost I'd like to thank everyone that commented and contributed to the post. I wasn't expecting such an overwhelming response. To be honest, I was expecting a lot more crap then what I actually got so that's always a good thing!

I did read through every single comment. I didn't have the time to reply to every comment individually coz there was just too many and they were all novel length. But that's not a bad thing!

Of course, I knew there would be people who didn't like it and have since took to their own blogs and Twitter to indirectly bitch at me. Why so serious? Don't take it so personal. I had a shed load of people agreeing with me so for that, I'm grateful. I couldn't care less about people making out like they're a victim. When they're quite clearly not.

Just as I also predicted, I lost a bunch of followers but I gained so many more! So thank you and I hope you like what you see.

I also had a million new Twitter requests too. I did try to say hi to everyone but if I didn't then I'm sorry. I was getting so many @replies on Sunday night I couldn't keep up so if you did say hey and I didn't reply, please don't be put off from @-ing me again. I always reply. :)

I finally made it to 600 followers. Which is amazing. I've been thinking about doing a competition for it over Summer. But I'm still toying with the ideas of themes, prizes and whatnot. But that'll will be up when I put all the prizes together and actually think of a theme and stop changing my mind over it!

I think that's about all I had to say. Ooh besides, please don't bring any more drama to my blog. I am absolute sick to the back teeth of it and I really can't be bothered with getting involved in it now. I know what you think, 'yeeeeah riight!' I really am though and unless someone deliberately involves me, I want nothing more to do with. But yes, I'll still be voicing my own opinions. It's what I do.

Sorry posts have been a bit sparse this month. I'm doing ridiculous hours at work this week but I'll try and rectify that situation as soon as I can.

Blogging/PR/Popularity/Giveaways Rant/Discussion/Whatever You Want To Call It.

Before we start, let's just clear this up. This isn't a personal attack as such, this is just some things I have seen recently which have annoyed me. I'm not writing this to start shit with anyone, so if you plan on commenting because that's what you think I'm doing, it really isn't. Everyone has an opinion and I'm sharing mine on my blog.

I'm sure we all know by now, I do love myself a bit of controversy, just to shake things up a bit. If you're not a long time follower you can also check some other posts that caused a stir:- animal testing and blogging etiquette.

As every post needs a picture ...

This is going to be a long post but please, I really do hope you all take the time to read this as I know it's something everyone is going to have an opinion on and I'd like to hear them.

PR:

Public Relations. When I started this blog a little over a year ago, there wasn't much (from what I could see) in the way of freebies. Not that that's why I started blogging in the first place. I never even thought I'd get sent anything so I'm never expecting it when I get asked if I'd like to.

A year later and more companies are realising that people are going to bloggers to look for reviews/swatches etc. Which in turn means people are being sent things to review. Which is fine, but it really rubs some people up the wrong way.

Personally, this isn't something that bothers me a great deal. It's down to the company at the end of the day and if I was running said company, yes, I would go to more popular blogs. That way, more people are going to see it.

But it seems the people that don't get these opportunities take it personally. They don't think they're good enough. Or it's because they're jealous, who knows?

There's also been a fair few events recently that people have seem to got their knickers in a twist over if they weren't invited. You can't invite everyone, can you? I mean, my location isn't set on here nor is it set on my Twitter. But I have never once even been asked if I would like to attend an event. Granted, I probably wouldn't be able to go due to family/work commitments but the thought would be nice. Do you see me ranting about it on Twitter? Nope.

It also seems like there's a lot of people blogging purely for freebies. They aren't too hard to spot out. But seriously, why? What is the purpose of that? I just don't understand it.

I really don't want to go into PR too much more as I have other stuff to cover but I think the way it's causing resentment in others is unnecessary. There really is no need for it. Like I said before, it's down to the company to do as they please. If you've been sent something to review, good for you. Just don't expect to get parcels weekly from companies, that way you aren't left dissapointed

Popularity:

Everybody starts their blog with zero followers, am I right? I went at least a month with zero. Then I got a couple, I have no idea how but I was grateful (I still am). Since then the numbers steadily been rising.

There are always going to be people who have more followers than me and there's always going to be people with less.

Regarding people with less: maybe it's just me but what I find really quite annoying is when people moan that they don't have enough followers. Or they moan at people with more then them. For the most part (not including the next subject of conversation) they worked for those followers. They blogged on a regular basis, with substantial reviews/pictures etc.

If you very rarely blog, you can't expect to be really popular, can you? Do you see what I'm saying?

Take a look at Temptalia for instance. (I know a lot of people don't like her but ssh!) She updates at least 5 times a day. She has substantial reviews, spot on swatches and crystal clear pictures. The brands she blogs about are varied. So it's no wonder a lot of people go to her when they want info on the latest product releases. And please, if you're going to comment about how she gets stuff sent for free or that she's affiliated with companies, I'm not interested as this has nothing to do with the point I just made.

First and foremost you should blog for yourself. You shouldn't be doing it coz you feel you have to for other people. Yes, it is nice to have followers and feedback. From where I'm standing though, I'd rather have 20 comments from different people on a post then 1000 followers, with only, say, 10% that actually read my blog. I like loyal followers. I like feedback.

Which kinda leads me on to my last topic ...

Giveaways:

I know this is going to touch a nerve with a lot of people. I know this whole post will, but I know this point will in particular so I'm expecting a ton of people to unfollow.

Once again, when I started blogging there weren't too many of these around. But now there seems to be a giveaway going on every other blog. Which is great but there's some things which really do annoy me when it comes down to the giveaway itself.

Where is the effort?! There never seems to be any now a days. You just have to comment with 'enter me' and you're done with it.

But there's also those blogs that give you extra entries for tweeting about it, posting on your blog about it or posting in your sidebar. Honestly, if I see a giveaway where you absolutely HAVE to blog or tweet about it, I'll skip right over it. There's nothing worse then going through my Google Reader and seeing the same thing posted six thousand times.

M.A.C. Oh how I love thee. But it seems more and more people are realising M.A.C = followers. Here's a bit of maths for you. Giveaway + M.A.C + Extra entries/must blog about = 348375348567 new followers.

I don't know about you but honestly, the majority of those people are probably only following for a chance of winning some free stuff. They probably don't even care about the rest of your blog. Sorry but I have to tell it like it is.

I recently saw someone who was having a huge M.A.C giveaway. Her total post count is barely double figures. Yet she now currently has over 500 followers. All you had to do was type enter me. And surprise, surprise, you get extra entries for blogging about it.

Now I understand people want to be recognised, don't we all? I know I do. But what I don't think is fair is when people are just getting three million followers without even trying.

It seems like now people are just blogging for followers and freebies. It all seems like one giant popularity contest and I think it's quite ridiculous.

I know I probably haven't explained myself well but this is something I've been thinking about doing for a long time now. I've seen some things in the past few days that have just pushed me to do it sooner rather then later, so here you go.

I'm sure there's points I could have explained more or things I totally missed but I've been writing this for at least an hour now. It's time to wrap it up.

(I checked and actually I was writing it for two!)

So I'm going to sit here and watch my follower count drop, while I wait for opinions!

Purple Lust Eye Of The Day.

If you didn't know already, I have a new camera. Oh, it is amazing but I still haven't mastered the art of taking close up photos of my eye. It was easier on my old one because the lens didn't come out, so when I used a mirror behind I could see what I was doing. But ... The lense on the one I have now sticks out so I haven't quite got there yet. So you're going to have to do without for the time being. :P

This is a couple of days old now, I had no intention of posting it. I really hate the way I photographed it but I like the look, I digress and I'm posting it anyway.

I photographed it in two different lights because it seemed warmer looking when I was stood in my window.

Shade:

Light:

Eyes:
M.A.C Fast Response Eye Cream.
Urban Decay Primer Potion.
M.A.C Pigment - Pink Opal (highlight).
M.A.C Eyeshadow - Parfait Amour (all over lid).
Urban Decay Eyeshadows - Fishnet (crease), Ecstasy (outer V).
Urban Decay Liquid Liner - Ecstasy (upper lashline).
Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil - Lust (waterline, lower lashline).
Dior Blackout Mascara.

I really liked the way it turned out, besides the way Fishnet doesn't look properly blended, it was.

Pink Opal, Parfait Amour and Fishnet all have the most amazing duochromes so they work really well together.

What do you think?

Lush (Retro) Melomint Bubble Bar.

What www.lush.com says:
Looks like a chunk of watermelon, smells like a stick of Blackpool Rock. It makes peppermint bubbles to wake you up and unclog your mental blockages. Give yourself a good loofah scrub in a Melominty bath and it'll give your whole body the same feeling your mouth gets when you brush your teeth. Have a stimulating Melomint revival in your morning bath.

Ok, firstly before I start. I absolutely have to get this out of my system. Scroll back up to the first two pictures and notice the little green bits embedded in the pink middle, yes?

I was under the impression that they were just extra bits of green, ie. the same stuff used on the outside. Making sense?

Then to my horror, yes, horror! I slice it open and what to I find inside?

LINSEEDS!

erfvidcihvdfgbiuehifoj!!!!! Errrr!

(I apologise now if you're a company reading this, but seriously, ew right?!)

They have zero purpose whatsoever as far as I'm concerned. They just sit in the bottom of the bath looking like big nits/fleas. I'm not even joking. It's really quite gross.

If you're listening Lush, keep the linseeds in bread, where they belong and not floating around in my bath. Please and thanks.

Anywayyyy ... The actual product itself is ok.

Just ok though. The scent is very refreshing but very faint so it doesn't really give you that 'stimulating revival'. I used this when I needed keeping awake and it could have just been me but I found the scent seemed to disappear by the time I got in the bath.

Also this is a really hard Bubble Bar. I had some serious trouble trying to crumble this one up.

I know I haven't really said much about this but I honestly can't find the words to do so. I don't hate it but I really don't like it and wouldn't recommend it.

Anyone tried?

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil - Honey.

Minor point, on first glance, this review looks miles long. Half of it is actually the Urban Decay blurb, so keep reading please. ;)

Sorry about such a long blurb, I had tried cutting it down but it needs to all be in there.

I don't know if you've noticed but I wear colour. I don't like neutrals and I don't like gold or any kind of warm colours. Ok, didn't. I've been looking for a gold for summer that isn't too yellow as I know it won't sit right with me being so white.

I bought this knowing I would use it, even if I didn't totally love the colour. I have 10 or 11 of these Urban Decay Pencils now and I love them. And I love love love this colour! So Summer-y.

They currently have 23 listed on their site, for some reason they don't have Honey listed on there. I'm determined to get all of the bright ones because I just adore them over any other pencil I've used!

So why do I love them so much? They are super super soft. This one in particular, happens to be the softest out of all the ones I've tried. As it's not hard, it doesn't drag or pull on the eyelid and it leaves a smooth clean line.

These can also be used all over the lid as an eyeshadow base. Once you've given them a chance to 'set' they really don't budge and that's what I love about them. I can wear them along my lower lashline without fear of them migrating half way down my face.

The only thing I would say is that as these are waterproof, if you want to use them on your waterline, it takes more work to get colour pay off. Since your waterline is well ... wet and the pencils are waterproof, it's like trying to mix oil and water.

Overall I love these though and I would choose these over any other pencils. They have a huge range of colours and are currently on 3 for 2 in Boots, which is why I stocked up. ;)

What do you think of Urban Decay 24/7 Pencils? Any you're looking to try?

It's 'Thee' Haul.

Oh yes. This is the haul I know a couple people have been waiting for.

Now before I get any shit, remember how I was away for 4 weeks? I hardly bought anything until I decided to indulge in the Boots 3 for 2 offer and stock up on a bunch of Lush. There's also some things in here which I've been sent and things I bought a few months ago but still haven't mentioned on here yet, so thought I'd chuck those in too.

I had initially planned to haul the cosmetics and such like I usually do but that would take far too long so I'm just going to list everything out for you and then if you wish, you can tell me what you'd like to see sooner. Deal?

Right on with the hauling. This is how I'm storing it right now because I like to keep new products on their own for a bit before they get mixed in with the regular stuff. Is that weird? I don't know but anyway ...

Lush Supernova Bath Ballistic.

I'm a little late on posting this, I had planned to do so much earlier today but I no doubt got distracted by hilarious internet kitties.

I recently got a big Lush order and by big I mean, BIG. I'm not hauling it, it would take me days. But I got pretty much everything Ballistic wise, Retro things and a whole bunch of other stuff. I posted a TwitPic right after I finished checking it all (just to make sure) and bagging it up. Which took forever! So if there's anything in particular you want to see, just let me know and I'll do it, if I've got it.

Anyway, Supernova ...

What www.lush.com says:
Celebrate bath-time with cocktails for one and a ticker tape parade. Supernova is a party explosion in your tub, with refreshing oranges and genuine cognac oil to make it smell like a posh cocktail. Smatterings of fluorescent bubble mixture give it a frothy, pink topping. The paper takes a bit of clearing up afterwards, but it’s definitely fun while it lasts.

Where is my smatterings of frothy pink topping?! :( Infact, why is the Ballistic even white.

Now, I'm sure you've all heard by now that this is on the death list. Or rather, being discontinued. Which is mostly the reason I got it. But really Lush, there is no need to slack on standards, is there?! It could just be my 'monitor' of course, showing it up much more pink on the site but never mind.

The actual Ballistic itself. First off the scent is not something that I genuinely go for. It's kind of hard to describe but it's not really florally or very fruity either. It's somewhere in between that, quite perfume-y. (I'm horrible at describing scents!) It does smell amazing though!

Blogger just decided to mess up so now I can't remember what I said ... ¬_¬

This has 3 kinds of oil in it. Sweet orange, lime and Cognac. Oh, yes! I bathed in Cognac oil. I feel so snobby and posh saying that. ;) Loves it! Anyway, I can definitely tell the difference with having the oils in there. I didn't use a moisturiser after, just a body powder and my skin is soft, silky and still very much hydrated.

And I had no problem with the paper bits afterwards, they pretty much disintegrated and went away with the water.

Definitely one to try before it makes it's way to the Lush graveyard/heaven.

Scott Cornwall - Colour B4 Extra Strength.

Please click and read this review instead as it's the up to date 2012 formula.

Please forgive me if this is a little mediocre. It's currently just gone 02.22, yet I feel compelled to write a post before I sleep.

I also expect this is going be a long one, sit tight.

If you hadn't noticed (you'd be blind not to have), I've got super black hair. I don't like my natural colour and after I went back to dark after being blonde. I went to black. So, after having jet black hair for the past two years, I figured there was no hope for me ever having lighter hair.

I'd seen a few people mention this Colour B4 stuff and I found it whilst I was mindlessly browsing Boots a couple of weeks ago. It's expensive, on first inspection at £11.99. But think of it like this, how much would it cost you to go to a hair dressers and have it stripped, and how much would that kill your hair?

Ok, let's move onto the product itself ...

In the box you get an Activator, a Remover, a Buffer and a pair of gloves.

Effectively this is a hair dye, in terms of application and what not. You add the activator to the remover. Shake it up and apply it with the nozzle cap.

There is rules regarding how you do this though and I don't have the sheet to work off but the main ones I can remember are these:

You have to work quickly when applying it. The longer you leave the solution sitting the less likely it is to work.

This has to be done in a warm room. If cold air or a breeze gets to the solution, whilst it's on your hair, it will slow down the removing process.

It smells just like apple conditioner and it looks a lot like it too. You rub it into the hair like you would any hair dye and leave it for 20 minutes. In which time you could play Tetris on your iPod or dance around your bathroom to GaGa ... I totally didn't do those things.

It says it's best washed off in a shower because you have to rinse it for 10 minutes. Into the shower I jumped, expecting to wash away a ton of black water. I mean it's taking the dye out with it, isn't it? The water washed out clear. This is probably the main moment I thought to myself that I'd just chucked away the best part of £15.

Anyhow, 10 minutes is a long time to be rinsing in the shower for, let me tell you that!

Afterwards you apply Part C, the Buffer. Which is a bit like a conditioner. It gets rid of any dye molecules that are left and restores hair to a natural PH so once it's dry you can dye it again, if you so wish.

Just like with the Remover, this smells like super sweet strawberries and it lathers up really easily. So you apply this, let it sit for a minute and rinse for 5 minutes. Then apply it again and rinse.

That's it! It seems like a lot I know, which sort of put me off doing it but when you look at the results ...

(Unfortunately I don't have any before images but just look at my hair in the left hand sidebar, that was a before!)

HAI DER natural hair colour that I haven't seen for years.

This is after just one box. I actually used another one after because there was still black in the ends but my hair is super long and thick anyway, so I was anticipating the fact that I might have needed to.

That's amazingly impressive, no?! Considering I had over 2 years of black dye piled on my hair.

If you're sick of your hair and want to go back to your natural colour, or even go back to your natural colour so you can dye it a different colour, I wholeheartedly recommend this.

I bought this on the assumption it wouldn't work and it shot down my expectations.

I ended up dying my hair red after I'd done this which you can briefly check out on my Flickr. But I'll do another post about that, I'm sure.

So, have you tried this? Did it work for you? Or are you looking to get rid of your coloured hair and try this? Let me know your opinions!

Happy Birthday To ... Me?!

Why yes, it happens to be my anniversary of birth today. Or rather Tastes Like Glitter!

I actually started this blog in May sometime last year but I deleted everything and started again, making it solely a makeup blog.

And here I am a year later still going. That's kind of odd for me because I get bored and give up on things very quickly.

My very first post that went up was a Coastal Scents 88 Shimmer Palette Review. I prefer not to read old posts, they make me cringe but feel free to go and check it out!

With that said, cream cupcakes for all?

Oh I think so!

Return Of The Jed-Eye - Eye Of The Day.

Ohai ... Remember me? Uh ... I'm kind of scared as I write this incase everyone has forgotten about me. Hmm anyway ...

I'm hilarious right? Pun intended obviously. ;) Although I don't like Star Wars and this EOTD has nothing to do with it. I just thought it was funny, don't judge me!

I did this the day after I went on hiatus. I really wasn't at all bothered about a full face I just wanted some colour on my face. It's not the best and I don't really like it but I thought I'd put it up anyway.

Do we like?

The C2K shadows are a bit hard to work with. They need a lot of layering but I shall post about that some other time.

I guess you could say I'm back now. I'll be doing an update sometime next week. Now, I know it would make sense to do it first but I'm waiting for some deliveries. And it would be kind of ridiculous to haul everything I got in loads of separate posts. Even though up till I made a Boots order this evening and a Lush order yesterday, I'd hardly bought anything.

Sooo ... I was going to include a photo of everything I've got in the last 4 weeks (has it really been that long?) with an update and then if you want to see something first, you can request to do so. Make sense? Probably not but I'm tired.

Anyway, I'm off to watch Alice In Wonderland as I'm the only person in the world who has yet to see it! I'll reply to any comments later or tomorrow! :D
