Pink Nouveau Face Of The Day.

It's been a while since I did a FOTD. The last proper one I did was in April.

Why is that?

Well, I know I'm putting myself out there, as it were so I'm subjecting myself to constructive criticism or criticism as a whole. But I find on the whole, people don't quite understand the definition of constructive.

Now before you start thinking this is a woe is me post - it isn't. I know I'm far from beautiful/gorgeous/pretty and so forth. But I'm having fun doing what I do. What I do not appreciate and will not tolerate is people leaving comments here (they aren't approved as I don't want a constant reminder) reminding me how mediocre I look.

Go away. I am not interested.

So that is why I barely do them and it will continue to stay that way.

Anyway I'm sure there was a FOTD in here somewhere ...

Face:
M.A.C Studio Moisture Cream.
Illamasqua Matte Primer.
M.A.C Studio Finish Concealer - NW15.
M.A.C Studio Moisture Tint - Light.
M.A.C Blush Ombre - Azalea Blossom. (LE)
M.A.C Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Power.

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion.
M.A.C Eyeshadows - Phloof! (highlight), Electra (all over lid), Silver Ring (crease).
Urban Decay Liquid Liner - Perversion.
Dior Extase Mascara.

Lips:
Too Faced Lip Insurance.
M.A.C Lipstick - Pink Nouveau.

Bit of an unusual FOTD for me. I don't really tend to wear super bright lip colours and Pink Nouveau is definitely just that.

I love love love the colour but I don't really know if it works well on me? What kind of look would you team this with? I was going to just use Phloof! but decided to add a bit of colour to my eyes.

And yes that mess of 'hair' is my natural air dried hair because I was too lazy to straighten it before photos. I hate it! :(

Guest Blogging / Eye Of The Day.

Hi everyone. Just a really quick post from me today, to say I'm guest blogging over on 6 Inch Stilletos.

I've done a recreation of an EOTD and you can see more pictures and what I used to achieve this look here.

I've got some reviews I really need to do ASAP and a Sally's blog. I really need to get my things together and start blogging properly again.

Fear not though, I am still around and will be posting as much as I can soon!

Models Own - To Buy Or Not To Buy?

That is the question ...

I know I'm late with this one, but our Boots only got the Models Own stand a fortnight or so ago.

Doesn't it look all pretty and filled up? Which is more then I can say for Superdrug ...

Anyway, none of the polishes they had were ones I'd been eyeing on the site and waiting to see in person. Typical, no?

I've got a bit of a thing at the moment for pastel lilacs. The one they had was too pinked toned though. No thank you!

I swatched one of the loose eye shadows and it reminded me of Barry M Dazzle Dusts. Which I honestly dislike.

So my questions to you are;

What are the formulas like on the polishes?

Any colours you'd recommend?

And has anyone tried the loose shadows/tube glosses?

Let me know your opinions in the comments. Thanks!

Louboutin Ruffian Mani.

Yesterday I took it upon myself to paint my nails. Shocker! But I didn't know what to do so I decided to go with the 'Ruffian'.

This is what www.lacquerized.com says about it:
This manicure is created by Creative Nail Design (CND) especially for the NYFW Ruffian Fashion show.

Since then everybody has been calling this manicure the Ruffian, or Ruffian inspired, manicure.

Although it has been around for a few months now, I still think it's hot! It's like the revamped funky french if you ask me.

She also did an amazing 'How To' post. This is the technique I used to do mine:

I thought this was going to turn out like one big mess. It wasn't that bad actually. The diagram above, is how I paint my nails anyway. I just had to remember not to cover up all of the base coat.

For this I used M.A.C's Shirelle and O.P.I in Black Onyx.

Now before you enlarge the pictures, I left them big for a better look, you should know I hate O.P.I. They're too thick and just generally gross in my opinion. I find they take ages to dry and as I didn't have Seche Vite last night, I used a nail dryer. Big mistake.

The result? My nails have more bubbles than an Aero.

Let's just overlook the bubbles and the scraggly cuticles though, yes?

Click to enlarge, for a better look.

It was all done free hand. The O.P.I had a Pro Wide brush, which is great an all but not when you're trying to do a Ruffian.

I also think it would look much better on longer nails. I'm still waiting for them to grow a bit yet, I think they look ugly (on myself) short. :(

What do you think though?

Clarins Crystal Lip Balm - Crystal Clear.

This is something I picked up quite a while ago and have loved it ever since. But I can't stop using it at the moment so when better time to review it. No time like the present and all that. ;)

What www.boots.com says:
Its magic! Our crystal lip balm delivers a slick of barely there colour to nourish lips

The dynamic design of new Clarins Instant Smooth Crystal Lip Balm which is just as magic as it sounds: the high-tech polymer stick looks like crystal, glides like silk, and boasts a wax-free formula that contains skin lipid-like molecules designed to diminish the appearance of fine lines, while delivering a subtly shiny slick of gloss.

I must admit, the whole reason I was initially drawn to this was the see through bullet. I mean come on, it's see through!

As Clarins is a 'premium brand' I'd never really looked at their products before so this was my first purchase. With that being said, I had high hopes for this.

I wasn't disappointed. I dislike a lot of lip balms. Especially those along the lines of M.A.C TLCs. I just hate the texture, the thickness of it and when I have longer nails, I especially hate using my fingers for balms.

This is completely colourless, unlike the other two which have slight tints to them. So it's perfect for putting on before you do your makeup.

It's a very lightweight formula. It glides really easily across the lips and feels like it's just melting onto them. It leaves behind a slightly glossy look. Perfect, if you want a shiny lip but hate the stickiness of a gloss.

*Minor afterthought* It smells like jam! It's a very faint berry like smell but it smells delicious!

Overall, I find this really very moisturising. I know it's in the higher price range, especially for a lip balm. But it's a nice change from a regular balm and it's always good to treat yourself!

Have you tried this? What did you think? I'm tempted to get the red one next.

Sunset Eye Of The Day.

Two posts in one day?! Watch out for that blue moon later this evening.

After this mornings fail of a scheduled post, I knew it wouldn't be long before I had an EOTD to post using one of the palettes.

I had a bit of an altercation with UDPP this morning which I posted on TwitPic. If I get the slightest bit in my eye, they water like crazy. It honestly looked like I was balling my eyes out, so I wasn't going to do any eye makeup.

A few hours later and I gave in and tried again ... Even though the 'tears' made my lashes look crappy.

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion.
M.A.C Eyeshadow - Phloof! (brow highlight, inner corner highlight).

Sleek Eyeshadows from the Sunset Palette:

1 (all over lid), 2 (crease), 3 (outer V), 4 (lower lashline).
Dior Extase Mascara.

A really simple look but I wanted something bright but not too dramatic. What do you think?

Sleek Palettes.

Hi hi. So I just wanted to do a quick scheduled post for tomorrow (Saturday), to tide you over for the weekend.

And yes, it's about the much talked (and already blogged about) Sleek Circus palette.

I'd been waiting over a month for this to finally make an appearance online before I ordered, as I didn't want to pay numerous P&P charges.

So this went up on Wednesday and I was trying to decide which other palette to order with it (I'm getting the rest, bar Chaos, when I get paid! ;D), and finally settled on Sunset since it was the most Summer-y. I ordered these in the evening so although I really wanted them today (Friday), I knew logically I probably wouldn't get them till at least Monday.

What a nice surprise it was to come home from a long slow day at work, to find them waiting to be opened!

Now, as my nearest Sleek Superdrug is at least an hours train ride away, it's kind of impossible for me to go there whenever I please. I was apprehensive about ordering online, to say the least as I know what mineral eyeshadows are like and I know exactly what delivery men are like ...

I was expecting a breakage of some form.

They were delivered in a big jiffy bag. Which I opened to find them individually separated into another jiffy bag each and then wrapped tightly inside bubble wrap. Oh my, what a nightmare that was to get them out of the bubble wrap. The term 'more haste, less speed' springs to mind but I needed them out, STAT.

I know you've seen swatches a thousand times but I still plan on doing them. And I cannot wait to do looks with these, starting from tomorrow! The only trouble is which palette to use first? Which colours do I use first? Oh the decisions ...

Green With Envy Eye Of The Day.

I know it's been an awfully long time since I did one of these EOTD posts. I still haven't got to grips with taking decent eye close ups with my Canon so I reverted back to my old camera for these. The lack of quality of them is probably not apparent to most but it's aggravating me.

I digress and I'm posting it anyway.

This looked better in my head. I ended up going a little too far up with the crease colour but I'm not going out anywhere today (Wednesday, this post is scheduled!) so it didn't need to be dead on perfect.

I just needed to do something! I've been lacking any inspiration whatsoever lately. So much so I cannot tell you the last time I did proper eye makeup before now.

It sort of reflects my mood too. Hence the large amount of dark colours. I seem to use a lot of blacks and greys when I feel crappy.

But anyway, onto the eye ...

Eyes:
M.A.C Fast Response Eye Cream.
Urban Decay Primer Potion.
Urban Decay Deluxe Eye Shadow - Graffiti (all over lid).
Sleek Graphite Palette - I used the lightest colour for the highlight and a mixture of the silvers, greys and blacks.
Urban Decay Liquid Liner - Pervision (upper lashline).
Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil - Covet (waterline, lower lashline).
Dior Blackout Mascara.

What do you think? Baring in mind it was just a quick messing about type look.

I will be doing more EOTD posts with my old camera for the time being, for the close up photos anyhow. I just need to find where I left my inspiration ...

Lush Vanilla Fountain Bath Ballistic.

What www.lush.com says:
Sweet and creamy, fizzically dreamy.

Vanilla Fountain smells and looks like a luxurious dessert. The inventors took their inspiration from a visit to Heston Blumenthal's fabulous restaurant, where magnificent desserts are the order of the day.

Indulging in a Vanilla Fountain creates an eruption of fragrance and makes your sweet tooth tingle. It also has the added benefit of moisturising, too, so your skin will feel great after you depart the vanilla waters. When Simon created the fragrance, people were almost battling over what to do with it.

Moving on from the last not so great Lush post, something I love!

I've been meaning to try this ever since I got the Vanilla Dee-Lite Body Lotion because I adore the scent. It's a very 'raw' vanilla scent. At first I didn't like it as I was expecting something very artificially sweet. It's not the strongest of scents but it's quite apparent.

It turned the water a weird green-y/yellow colour, which I wasn't expecting but nevertheless.

It was quite moisturising, even more so when topped off with Vanilla Dee-Lite. Definitely something I would purchase again!

Are you a fan of Lush's Vanilla scent? Let me know what your favourite ones are!

A Super Quick Eye Of The Day.

I feel I'm slacking a bit on blog posts lately but my head is all over the place and I can't concentrate. I'm still here just bare with the sporadic posts.

A really quick EOTD from when I was away. It was one of those kind of eyes where I woke up super super late and barely had any time at all.

Eyes:
M.A.C Fast Response Eye Cream.
Urban Decay Primer Potion.
M.A.C Eyeshadows - Phloof! (highlight), Crystal (all over lid), Electra (crease), Silver Ring (outer V and lower lashline).
Eyeko Graffiti Eyeliner Pen - Purple (upper lashline).
Dior Extase Mascara.

The pictures are kind of rubbish but I didn't really have loads of time to take any.

What do you think of this 5 minute or so EOTD?

Sorry for the mega short post too.
