My First Baking Win.

I'm not going to lie, baking is not my forte. Not at all. But when I came across these Sugar Cookies, I knew I had to make them. Don't they look yummy?

And of course since they came out so well, when I wasn't expecting them too, I wanted to blog it.

Ingredients:
720g flour.
3tsp baking powder.
480g butter.
400g sugar.
2 eggs.
2tsp vanilla extract.
1tsp salt.
And whatever you want to use for decorations. I was going to use glimmer sugar and icing but they were sweet enough so I skipped the icing.

Also I would recommend halving the ingredients if you're going to use this recipe. This made 1 tray of big cookies and 3 trays of the cookies the size of the ones in the post. But I live with males so they were soon demolished. ;)

Step1: Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Step 2: Add eggs and vanilla. Mix well.

Step 3: Mix dry ingredients, adding a little bit at a time. Mix well.

Step 4: Chill the mixture in the fridge for 1-2 hours. I put them in for 2.

Step 5: Roll mixture into balls and cover in glimmer sugar.

Step 6: Place on a baking tray. Gas mark 4 for 8-10 minutes or until the edges start to brown.

They don't look as good as the ones I linked to. I couldn't find glimmer sugar bright enough but they tasted amazing.

You wanna cookie?!

Have you tried making these? Did you like them? What can I make next? :D

Eyelashes For Your ... Car?!

Oh yes, you read right. Eyelashes for your car.

I follow a lot of blogs on Tumblr. One of my favourites is The Daily What. It's a whole mixture of cute videos, memes and really strange finds.

Last night I came across this ...

(Source).

The girl reminds me a bit of Elle (All That Glitters), I'm sure she'd promote these if she had the chance.

So what do Carlashes™ say about this product?

Carlashes™ eyelashes and crystal eyeliner are the newest hot products for your car. The trademark Carlashes™ is a new automotive aftermarket brand created to allow cars to be personalized with a feminine touch.

Carlashes™ are sold by Turbo Style Products, a new company formed in January 2010 and based in Park City, Utah. Turbo Styles mission is to be THE leading supplier of female automotive aftermarket products.

They've got patent pending, though I'm not sure they'll need it. I mean who in their right mind would buy these?

Would you? :|

Let's Hear It For (A) Neeew Yooork (Eye Of The Day) ...

Concrete jungle where dreams are made ooooof ... Ahem.

A really simple but pretty striking EOTD done with the already, much blogged about, Urban Decay New York Book Of Shadows. I love everything NY, so I had to buy it. It is beautiful.

Remember in my Purple Lust EOTD, I talked about camera issues? I decided to try today, for the first time in ages to take eye close ups with my Canon. It worked to a degree but I had to crop my face out. Hence the not so sharpness. It's better then what I was using before though.

Shots done with a sexy Canon:

Shot done with a crappy Fujifilm (see how it washes out all the colour?!):

Eyes:
M.A.C Fast Response Eye Cream.
Urban Decay Primer Potion.
M.A.C Eyeshadow - Phloof! (brow highlight, inner corner highlight).
Urban Decay Eyeshadows - Maui Wowie (inner half of lid, lower lashline), Rockstar (outer corner, waterline), Loaded (crease, lower lashline).
Dior Blackout Mascara.

I'm going to try and use my Canon for all closes up from now. The comparison just looks totally different.

Anyway enough of camera talk. What do we think of the EOTD? Do we likes?! It's really simple and easy to do but has a really striking effect.

Lush Charity Pot Trial Size.

I can't believe I'm doing two reviews of things I don't like, in a row. Sorry about that. I promise to post about something I LOVE stat!

I got this ages ago as I figured for £1, you really can't go wrong if it's something you don't like. At least you haven't wasted £12.50 on the full size.

What www.lush.com say:

Try a trial-size sample of our Charity Pot hand and body lotion, made with softening Fairtrade organic cocoa butter and almond oil to make your skin feel lovely, and it has a scent you’ll want to sniff all day long. Every penny that you pay for it - excluding the VAT, which goes to run public services in the UK - will go into our Lush Charity Pot Fund, which is then given to the various organisations we support.

First and foremost, they didn't really think the packaging through. I know it's only a sample but this is a very runny product. Every time I've opened it up, it's just gone everywhere, not fun I can assure you!

Geranium oil is something that lends itself to the subtle fragrance. Along with Almond oil and Ylang Ylang. I dislike the fragrance. It is very subtle but it's not something I'd go for.

It's quite softening and moisturising but the packaging and the scent puts me off, so now it's gathering dust in a draw. Oh well!

Have you tried this? Is it something you've wanted too?

The Tale Of Two (China Glaze) Cosmics.

At the start of the year I did a big haul, including lots of China Glazes. Namely some of the Speciality Glitters.

The one I was most excited to try besides Atlantis, was Cosmic.

Doesn't it look beautiful in the bottle?

Unfortunately though, that's where it ends. I tweeted about how disappointed I was by this polish and China Glaze contacted me so they could send me a new one. I didn't think it would be any use, it's down to the formula, but decided to accept anyway.

It's a black creme base with a ton of holographic glitter (that sticks to the side of the bottle, for the most part).

The creme base is extremely opaque. This is just one coat of both the original and replacement:

See how opaque that is?

I continued with applying two coats and was left with this hideous mess:

Lumps and bumps all over the place, with a touch of glitter overhang. Not cute.

The base coat is far to dense, it covers up the majority of the glitter so it doesn't have a chance to show off it's holo-y goodness.

It's just horrible in my opinion and the only China Glaze polish I've come across, that I really really hate. From now on, if I want a holo black, I'll stick to my home made O.P.I - My Private Jet.

Have you tried this? Did you want to? I wouldn't advise it.

I Had A Face Lift!

(Original).

No, not that kind!

I redid my blog layout. I wanted to move away from the whole Blogger look, it was kind of boring me so I went on a mission to get far, far away from it.

I think it worked, no?!

Opinions would be fantastic, what do you think?

And please let me know if you find anything buggy or not working!

Lush Dream Time Temple Balm.

I bought this out of curiosity as I haven't seen anything mentioned about the Lush Temple Balms, but I'm really glad I picked it up.

What www.lush.com say:

For a whole night of restful sleep, you can use a Dreamtime Bath Melt and the Balm on your temples. Keep a tin by your bedside for when you wake up at the wrong time. Have another dream-inducing pot of Lavender, Chamomile, Sandalwood and Jasmine balm in your pocket, so that you can fall asleep on planes, trains and anywhere else you fancy a nap.

If you follow me on Twitter then you'll know by now, I have awful trouble sleeping. I'll try anything once if it promises a somewhat restful night.

I'm not the biggest fan of Lavender. I really dislike it, so it was kinda of stupid of me to buy this, no? But it contains lots of other lovely ingredients such as Jojoba oil, fresh Rose petal extract, Jasmine Absolute and Chamomile flower. This makes it so the lavender isn't overpowering over everything else.

On the site, Lush suggest you can use these on your temples, pulse points and on the inside of your nostrils. I do just do that and does it help me sleep? Well, I wouldn't solely rely on this but it definitely relaxes me and helps me feel sleepier more easily, which is more then I expected!

Have you tried any of the Temple Balms? What did you think? Or is it something you would pass on?

Revlon Grow Luscious - Day 1.

With all the lash growth products that are available on the market now, it was only a matter of time before companies started making mascaras with key ingredients.

Revlon have done just that with their Grow Luscious due to be released in September, priced at £9.99.

'The oversized lash extending brush creates lashes that look instantly longer and lusher all day long'.

What www.revlon.com say:

Revlon introduces a revolution in mascara with grow Luscious by Fabulash; a multi-benefit mascara and lash enhancer that gives instantly longer and fuller lashes while helping them to grow stronger with each use.

Revlon Grow Luscious by Fabulash uses a formula of unique fibres and phytopeptide complex to help condition and strengthen lashes, complimenting the natural growth cycle by helping to prevent premature breakage.

Your lashes are going to love this ... 96% of women tested saw instantly longer, fuller and more lush lashes.

In the press release it also talks about key ingredients and it also includes a manifesto for Revlon's Love Your Lashes campaign, but I shall talk about those in separate posts.

I unexpectedly received this earlier this morning so I decided there was no time like the present to try it.

I'm going to be blogging my progress with it over the next few weeks.

Before:

After curling (I have no idea why I uncluded this, my lashes never hold curls!):

With Grow Luscious:

I'm very 50/50 with this at the moment. One half of me is hoping this works but then the other half is like, can a mascara really help?

What do you think of the idea of this? Is it something you would try?

I also have details of an exciting competition you can enter, which will be posted about next week!

Eyeko Cream - Extra Glow.

I've always heard good things about Eyeko's 3 In 1 Creams and there happens to be a new (limited edition) one making an appearance soon.

What www.eyeko.com says:

Limited Edition Eyeko Cream with Extra Glow.

New & Exclusive! Eyeko Cream with Extra Glow is a multitasking highlighter with all the benefits of your favourite cult classic Eyeko Cream. This NEW dreamy pink cream is loaded with micro light reflecting pigments perfect for creating a soft focus sheen. Add a flattering highlights to brow and cheek bones, your cupids bow, even collar bones and shins for a touch of moonlit magic.

Creating the illusion of perfect skin has never been simpler with Eyeko Cream with Extra Glow!

I've heard a lot of talk about their Tinted Cream but I'd end up looking like an Oompa Loompa if I used that, I'm sure. Not cute!

But then along comes this silver little number. Absolutely perfect. I love anything silver and shimmery, I find it flatters my pasty complexion far better.

This cream has a particularly thick texture, hence the settling in the pot. Despite that, on application it feels far from heavy, like you'd expect from a thick cream.

One of Eyeko's 3 In 1 ways to use this is as a moisturiser. Personally I wouldn't use it as facial moisturiser unless I wanted to look like a disco ball. It's not glittery as such, but it's really glowy and reflective. It doesn't just have silver shimmer in it either. When I was sat outside in the tiny bit of sun we got today, I noticed it subtly sparkled other colours.

I'm definitely going to be using this as a new facial highlighter. It's absolutely perfect and I love it!

If you so wish, you can pre-order it from Eyeko's online shop and it will be shipped to you in two weeks.

Also don't forget, if you spend over £10 you can type the code '101' into the special comments box and receive a free gift!

What do you think of this? Will you be picking it up?

Eldora Lashes - C120.

I received these eyelashes an extremely long time ago, I'm a bad blogger - what can I say?!

I've had the photos sitting on my laptop for months now, gathering invisible dust. The start of May, if you want to be precise.

Blogging about things I dislike is not something I like doing. Especially if it's sent to me but I will not lie. That's why I think this has taken so long to do.

Anyway. One of the pairs of lashes I recieved were the C120s. Black lashes with hints of colour. Not too bright, not too pastel. Just right.

After trimming them I tried the glue that came with them on the back of my hand, even after drying fully it was extremely tacky so I went ahead and used my trusty M.A.C Duo.

I used to be terrible at applying lashes and I've watched many YouTube tutorials. Remember how they always say to 'roll' the lashes back and forth while waiting for the glue to go tacky?

I should have known as soon as I saw this ...

... That I was going to have trouble.

They weren't 'rolling' smoothly so I gave up with that idea and went ahead and put them on.

I had a nightmare and a half trying to get them to stay down along the lashline. As soon as I got one end down, the other would come away from the lid and vis versa.

You can click the pictures and make them a lot bigger, to see how not so well they applied.

These were the ones I was most excited about so it's put me off trying the others but I shall do at some point. Hopefully they fair better.

What are your eyelash mishaps? Care to share?
