I've been um-ing and ah-ing over doing this for a little while now. As you'll be able to tell from the pictures, I've barely touched my NY BOS. Now it's not because it isn't beautiful, it is. But I've been travelling a lot between houses recently and the BOS are so bulky and a waste of packaging. So unnecessary. I don't take them anywhere because I literally have no room for it.

I watched some videos on YouTube and it looked pretty easy. Then Lily did a post on it and it made me want to do it even more so!

I was going to wait till I had Z Palettes as the magnetic bottom of my M.A.C palette is broken, but I just couldn't.

What I needed:
One M.A.C palette with the top tray taken out.
A regular titanium kitchen knife, because it was super thin. You could also use one of those metal nail files.
New York BOS.
Magnetic strips.
Sticky labels.
Pen and scissors.

Around the shadows there are some visible gaps so I found it best to wedge the knife down that side of the shadow.

Wiggle the knife around till it starts to lift and gradually push it underneath and lift it from the packaging. It's not stuck on too well so it should be too hard.

Clean up any cardboard left stuck to the back.

Cut a piece of magnetic stripping. I just stick this on the remaining glue that's still on the pan. Then label.

Carry on till you've depotted them all!

Doesn't it look much prettier and less bulky in a little magnetic palette?

I shall definitely be doing this with my BOS II just as soon as I get more palettes.

Is this something you've considered? I promise you, it's really easy! If you have, how did you find it? Let me know your thoughts!
