When I started wearing makeup, the one thing I never though I'd wear was red lipstick. It's always seen as a classic look (Dita Von Teese) but one that scared and intimated me.

About a year ago I purchased M.A.C's infamous Russian Red. I cannot for the life of me get on with the matte formula so I thought reds would be totally out for me.

That was until I was sent this little beauty ...

What www.revlon.com says:
Instant burst of rich, true color with a featherlight feel.

Elasticolor™ technology provides immediate color release and hugs lips with a burst of weightless color that feels like a second skin

This really is a true blue based red. And you know what? I absolutely adore it. I'm not one for playing up my lips in anything bolder than a bright pink but I've worn this to work on numerous occasions. I even got told when I wore it on Friday, my complete stranger that it looked amazing and that she wishes she had the confidence to wear it! I still feel like everyone's staring when I wear red though.

Everyone has the confidence to wear it, you just need to find a red shade that's right for you. Whether that's a pink cherry red or a deep wine colour. There's one out there that's perfect for you.

This lipstick does exactly what it says. It goes on glossy and doesn't feel like you're wearing anything. As I don't own a single lipliner (you read right!) and don't plan to as I've no use for them, I line my lips very carefully with a lip brush (after using Too Faced Lip Insurance). Then I fill the rest of my lips in with a brush and then apply straight from the bullet on top. I team it with matte skin, barely there blush, structured brows and a slick of black liquid liner.

It's super pigmented and you get a good 8 hours wear with this because it simmers down to a non drying matte finish. It also leaves a stain behind so when it starts to wear away, you can't even notice.

Would I recommend? Yes. I am a slave to M.A.C lipsticks but I'd choose this over Russian Red any day.
