British 'Summer' Time Makeup.

So British Summer time has finally started and it's typical that it rains all day.

The one thing I hate about Summer is the heat and the lack of being able to wear full coverage foundation and lots of eyeshadow. It just feels horrible if you do.

I was going out in a little bit and wanted to make myself look presentable without taking any time at all so I opted for M.A.C's Studio Tint. This is the only tinted moisturiser I own, it smells a bit funny but it does the job.

So I thought I'd brace myself and show you totally unedited photos of me wearing it. There's no colour editing, no getting rid of spots. Just corners and text editing.

I did actually pop some concealer underneath Studio Tint but I have a fair amount of acne scarring on my chin which I cannot bare. You can see every spot and freckle.

Even some overgrown brows but let's ignore those since I've been sick, I am excused, no?

After looking at these photos I realise I should probably have used an eye brightener.

But this is what I used ...

Face:
Illamasqua Matte Primer.
M.A.C Studio Fix Concealer - NW15.
M.A.C Studio Tint - Light.
Smashbox Fusion Soft Lights - Stardust.
M.A.C Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder.

Eyes:
M.A.C Zoom Lash.

Lips:
M.A.C Lipstick - Viva Glam GaGa*.

* Limited edition.

So there it is. I never really liked wearing a tinted moisturiser but these photos don't make it look half as bad as what I imagined it did.

Super Short Someday Summary - Saturday.

♡ Just disregard the fact I've not taken a new photo. I've been struck down with every illness under the sun. Ok, not quite. But I'm currently suffering from a cold, flu and a throat infection. It is the most disgusting combination of things to have ever. Hence the lack of posts. I'm not really thinking about makeup, more trying to stop coughing myself to death. Apparently it'll be around for a week or so.
♡ Russell Howard's Good News is back! Yay! I love him and that show makes me laugh so much. But there was something on it at the end of the first show that got me on Google straight away. If you saw you'd have saw the little piece about a girl called Kirstie Mills. She actually doesn't live that far from me but she suffers with cystic fibrosis and is keeping a blog about her battle here. It makes for interesting reading.
♡ 3 Little lovelies;  Listening to - Goodbye Lullaby - Avril Lavigne.
♡ Rocking - China Glaze Pool Party on the toes.
♡ Eating - Rolos and no, you can't have my last one.

I know that was a poor SS post but I just wanted to update on those 2 things really. Sorry guys.

Illamasqua Toxic Nature.

Let me first start by saying, I'm sure you've already seen swatches and what not. I was actually really late compared to other bloggers in receiving my little parcel. Probably the Royal Mail's fault. But either way, I have a long awaited review for you now.

What www.illamasqua.com says:

Unpredictable, uncharted and unnatural, Illamasqua unleashes Toxic Nature for Spring/Summer 2011, a colour collection born from a visionary concept of nature fighting back against the genetically modified society that plunders it. Illamasqua has created the Toxic Nature collection through a palette of lurid shades, corrupted hues and glistening muted tones that offer intoxicating versions of their original selves.

“Having an artist background highly influenced this collection. The medium of paint when it is in various states [mixed on a palette, on a canvas, the colours mutating when you wash your brushes] inspired the product colours of Toxic Nature. Blends, washes, dabs, drips, daubs and splashes of colour are evident in the imagery of the collection.” Alex Box, Illamasqua Creative Director.

Like nature itself, it’s not all sweetness and light. Shades of mint, mushroom, plum, orange and rose are distorted with rich textures and pops of acid-infused brightness that command attention and draw you in …

I must admit when I first heard about this collection I was super excited and I still really love the whole collection but some of the promo images creep me out a little. Anyone else find that?

I received the new Cream Pigment in Delirium, Flare lipstick and a nail varnish, which I'll post about when my nails aren't so raggedy. I also realised I bought the Divine Sheer gloss back in the Summer and it's been re-promoted with this collection.

Delirium, Flare and Divine:

Delirium:

The Cream Pigments are something totally new from Illamasqua and I'm sure I wasn't the only person questioning whether or not the texture and slip of these would be like the Liquid Metals. It isn't at all. These are super matte and take a little warming up with your finger.

They're super pigmented and really lightweight, they don't feel heavy or thick.

Illamasqua suggest this as a contouring colour on pale olive skin tones. As well as a healthy flush for all skin tones and as a blusher and as a soft lip colour. These are completely multi purpose and can be used all over the face and body, and even in your hair!

They can be used sheer or built up and are even water resistant.

Definitely worth having at least one of these in your collection.

Flare:

A very yellow based matte bright orange. The photo really doesn't capture the true neon-ness of it. It's retina searing.

I'm not the biggest fan of matte lipsticks but this applies really well, providing you line your lips with a brush first, just to make sure you get a crisp edge.

This lipstick is really long wearing and leaves a stain behind with it. Plus it's bang on trend considering orange lips have been everywhere.

I already have an orange lipstick from M.A.C but it looks more red when compared to this, although it isn't at all.

Divine:

A sheer bright fuchsia pink. Although this is my first Sheer gloss, it's still really pigmented colour wise. I often find with glosses that all colour is lost on my lips. With this I still have my natural lip showing through but it has a really nice wash of colour.

These glosses are not as sticky as M.A.C but they're a little thicker so seem to stick around on the lips for longer.

Definitely a fan of these glosses.

Overall I love this collection, it's full of acid limes, neon oranges but it's also toned down with mint greens and lilacs. The best of both worlds? I'm sure there's something for everyone.

One Ring, One Hundred Different Ways.

I still have an Illamasqua post coming up soon but I'm so distracted today, I decided to blog something which doesn't need much thought.

I'm an avid fan of jewellery but like with anything, I can get bored really quickly. That's not to say I don't love it. But I hate wearing the same thing all the time. So when Carol Anne popped a newsletter through my letterbox and I found this One Jewels ring, I knew I had to have it.

I already have a full Troll Beads bracelet, full of bright blues, turquoises and greens but I don't wear it nearly enough. In total, it cost more than anything I've ever bought and it gets quite heavy. :(

So when I last got paid I went to Carol Anne, thinking that they wouldn't have my size. First one I tried on and it fitted perfectly. It was clearly meant to be.

The ring:

Comes in 3 parts. You get the ring, the little stopper that has a CZ on the top and the 'screwdriver' to make sure you screw it up tight enough. Which also has a little hole to pop the topper in when you've unscrewed it so as not to lose it. Super handy for me!

Here's a few combinations I've been wearing recently and managed to snap a photo of:

All in all, a little expensive treat to myself but so worth it. I've changed it pretty much everyday since I got it. I really do love it!

Want The Naked Palette?

Run now, run as fast as you can, clutching your credit cards!

If you missed it on Debenhams last week, get yourself over to House Of Fraser STAT!

It's not as cheap as it was on there, but it's still a darn site better than those pesky eBay prices.

If you're still reading this, what are you doing?! Get over there now!

Someday Summary - Saturday.

♡ Finally feeling good about everything. I have lots of good things coming up in the next few weeks so I'm keeping my head up and thinking of those.
I have a new addition to the little furry family I have. My new kitty Tilly. I went up to a cattery almost a week ago, just for a look and this little puss fell in love with me. I've had her just week now and her favourite thing to do is sleep or run around upstairs whilst making as much noise as possible.
♡ Illamasqua Toxic Nature. I had some bits waiting for me at the post office a few days ago. One of the girls in the promos creeps me out a little but the products are stunning. I love the brights and there's definitely some other things I plan on picking up. Do you like this collection?
♡ Spring. It's been so lovely recently, I sure hope it stays like this. Not a fan of rain, it ruins my hair.
♡ Bright lips teamed with nude eyes. Takes a little less effort than bright eyes and nude lips. I've been finding myself wearing the former combination more now that I have the Naked palette.
♡ After my Google Friend Connect post I had a couple people ask me to show you how to get rid of the box but still keep a button. I will do this at some point this week. Just wondered how many people were curious?
♡ 3 Little lovelies; ♡ Can't stop drinking - Rubicon Watermelon juice.
♡ Listening to - Breathe Me - Sia.
♡ Loving - Urban Decay's Naked palette.

For once, I don't have tons of to say but I wanted to do a quick update till I get round to writing some proper posts after work tomorrow.

Naked Girl About Town FOTD.

I wasn't going to post this till tomorrow but everyone keeps asking me on Twitter what lippie that is in my display. Peer pressure that I'm posting this now, I tell ya.

As you can tell, I'm pretty rubbish at thinking up names. I hate to think what kind of people are going to be landing on this page from Google searches ... Sorry to disappoint.

My skin looks awfully dry and blemish-y but I loved this look.

Face:
Illamasqua Matte Primer.
M.A.C Studio Finish Concealer - NW15.
M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid - NW15.
M.A.C Magically Cool Liquid Powder - Truth & Light (highlight). (LE)
M.A.C Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder.
M.A.C Impeccable Brow Pencil - Taupe.

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion.
Urban Decay Eyeshadows from the Naked palette in Virgin (highlight, all over lid), Naked (crease), Buck (outer V).
M.A.C Zoom Lash Mascara.

Lips:
Too Faced Lip Insurance.
M.A.C Lipstick - Girl About Town.

I was set on doing something quick and easy with my Naked palette and I thought what better way to showcase it than with a bright pink lip.

I love this lipstick but I simply don't wear it often enough. Now I have this palette, I shall definitely be opting for Naked on the eyes and breaking out the brights for the lips.

What's your favourite lippie to team with a barely there eye?

Let's Get Naked!

In an Urban Decay sense.

I'm sure many of you are aware the Naked palette made it's way back onto the Debenhams site a few days ago, selling out once again.

I didn't expect this to blow up as much as it did, hence why I didn't get it right away. But I've been lemming it since the summer and I've finally managed to get it without paying ridiculous eBay prices. £90? I mean, are people stupid enough to actually pay that much for it?

I'm sure you've seen it many times so I won't post swatches but you have to see the beauty of it!

Urban Decay couldn't make liners fast enough so they had to stop production and start selling it with a Good Karma Eyeshadow brush instead. I was a little bitter about this at first but I have so many Zero liners floating around, I honestly don't need another and actually prefer the brush.

Let's take a look at the shades:

That's some kind of sun reflection or something. It's not dented or visible. Strange ...

Virgin - Shimmery pale nude.
* Sin - Frosty pink champagne.
Naked - Matte beige with just a hint of brown.
Sidecar - Shimmery bronze brown.

Buck - Matte dark brown.
* Half Baked - Metallic/frost copper bronze.
* Smog - Medium dark bronze.
Darkhorse - Deep brown with bronze shimmer.

* Toasted - Shimmery brown with a hint of pink.
Hustle - Shimmery chocolate (mmm!) brown.
Creep - Black onyx with silver shimmer.
* Gunmetal - A blue grey metallic silver.

* All shades marked with an asterisk are permanently available.

You can look great NAKED! This long, lean, seductive case is packed with TWELVE gorgeous neutrals. Shades range from delicate champagnes to dark, gritty gunmetal, and feature FIVE NEW shades with names like Darkhorse, Virgin and Buck. We've also included a range of textures: everything from glitter to shimmer to matte. The chocolaty velvet case is emblazoned with the word "NAKED" in gold foil lettering. (Just wait 'til your friends see you pull this sexy thing out of your bag. Jealous!) The mirrored case also includes a professional quality, cruelty-free Good Karma Eyeshadow Brush, AND a travel-size Eyeshadow Primer Potion in original formula. This is a shadow palette EVERYONE can use, and a truly spectacular gift. Experiment with office-appropriate neutrals, summertime bronzy looks, or sultry smokiness. With such a diversity of neutral shades at your fingertips, there's more to neutral than meets the eye.

I think the range of shadows is really good, especially if you're just starting out and don't know which to pick. You have them all here in one palette.

I already have Half Baked and Smog. I've been using Smog so much this last month as it's in the NY BOS. But I'm still really glad I got this!

I'm not a fan of the velvet packaging, it attracts dirt and fluff and it's a total PITA to get it clean again.

It's definitely one of those palettes for days when you just want something quick but you can also use it to create really sultry evening looks.

Have you got the Naked palette? What are your favourite combinations?

Goodbye, Friend Connect.

Next day edit; I was referring to the fact if the box was gone and only the blogger could see it but you could still follow people as normal, just without having to see how many followers they actually have.

It's been a long time since I did one of those controversial posts that separates people. You're either standing on the for or against, there isn't really an in between.

It's currently 1:36 in the morning and this a completely spontaneous post but it's been something that's getting on my nerves for a while now.

What it is it? It's this ...

That damn Google Friend Connect box.

You ever noticed how much hate and unnecessary bitching it causes?

People with few followers seem to think that anyone with a higher number than them, is somehow better than them. That is not the case, it's just a number isn't it?

I often see on Twitter, less 'out there' bloggers feeling sad and like their blog isn't worth much because they don't have as many followers as soandso. I've been there before and I sometimes get it now.

'What's so bad about my blog?' 'What makes theirs better than mine?'

It's just a number.

Would you rather have 8 loyal followers who religiously read and comment on every post, or 8000 'followers' who don't even bother reading it or leaving you feedback?

If you look back to this time last year, I had less than half the followers I do now and I was getting twice as many comments. Just because you have lots of followers doesn't mean you're going to get lots of comments.

Now this isn't a dig at any of my followers who don't comment, or to anyone that has a ton of followers.

I'm just putting it to you, do you think blogging would be somewhat less competitive if there was no GFC box? It seems to be the root of all jealousy as far as I can see.

There's always going to be someone with less followers then you and there's always going to be someone with more. You just have to remember first and foremost, you should be blogging for yourself. Blogging isn't a competition in who's going to have the most followers. I've lost count of the amount of times I've said it, especially recently, it shouldn't be about that. You should want to do it for yourself.

Don't beg people to follow you, it's not pretty to see. If they want to they will.

The number of followers you have does not define you as a blogger.
It just simply means yours is a little less 'out there', a diamond waiting to be discovered but if you try your hardest and work at it, you should be proud knowing that you're doing your best to get those followers.

I've been wanting to delete it since forever. But I didn't think there was another way to follow than to either have this, or the BlogSpot toolbar, which I do not want. But there is so if you want to follow, you can just click the picture in the sidebar and you'll be taken to a page where you can do so.

I've taken it away because I feel you shouldn't judge a blog by how many people follow it. And you shouldn't feel disheartened or jealous by the amount of followers it has.

I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense, I can't sleep. But I'm curious as to your opinions on this. Do you think not having the GFC would take away the competitive and jealousy (for followers) aspect away from blogging? Or do you think it would stay the same? Let me know any of your thoughts on this matter.

Goodbye, Friend Connect, you won't be missed.

Monthly Favourites - February.

Sorry it took me so long to do this, I had planned on doing it earlier in the week but I was too tired from work. Then I had planned to do it this morning but it's amazing how distracting Police cars and riot vans are.

I didn't wear too many colours this last month but here is what I was loving ...

♥ M.A.C Zoom Lash.
This one of the first mascaras I'd ever tried from M.A.C and I love the way it makes my bottom lashes look. It's ok on the top but this is the only mascara I never have trouble with using on the bottom set. Makes them nice and long as well as keeping them separated.

♥ Evil Shades Blush - Gossamer.
A soft candy pink, with just a tinge of lilac. And it has the added gorgeous-ness of a icy blue duochrome. I love duochrome and I love this. The way it shimmers reminds me very much of the Truth & Light Magically Cool Liquid Powder, which I was using every day but now I switch it up with this. I would possibly would go as far to say that this is one of my favourite blushes ever.

♥ Urban Decay Eyeshadows - Suspect, Smog and Maui Wowie.
These are depotted shadows from the New York BOS. When used together they create a shimmery but subtly contoured eye. Great to use with bright lips. These colours are really soft and easily blended so good starter colours if you're not good with eyeshadow!

♥ Studio Fix Powder - NW15.
I've had this for over a year now and I really didn't like it when I first got it. But I tried using it again recently and fell in love with it. My skin's not as dry now and it creates a beautiful matte finish. This is a little paler then the NW15 liquid so it's a perfect colour match for myself.

♥ Tweezerman Tweezers.
I got this in Sally's just after Christmas and I've been using them so much this last month. They are, hands down, the best tweezers I've used. I'd never had a decent pair, they were always just cheap pairs bought in a hurry because my eyebrows needed doing STAT. I obviously had to go with the dayglo pink but they are so worth the money and really do get every hair.

Swatches of Maui Wowie, Suspect, Smog and Gossamer:

Those are my favourites for February. What were yours?
