Someday Summary - Saturday.

First and foremost, The Royal Wedding. Right up until yesterday, I will admit I was one of those who didn't give a hoot. I had to work, it was terribly quiet and a total drag. But then I got home and logged onto Tumblr and saw all the amazing photos and cute GIFs, I changed my mind. There where rumours weeks ago that Kate was going with a Galliano dress, thank goodness she didn't. Then on Twitter a few days ago it came to light that it'd be an AMcQ. I'm so glad she went with the latter, I may be bias but it looked stunning. I also applaud her for doing her own makeup. They both looked really and truly happy, I hope it lasts for them. I wonder how many people are going to be chasing after Prince Harry now ...
Ordering a dressing table. I've never had one in my life. A desk, yes but it's not the same. Last week I ordered a proper one. Mirror, draws, the works and it's coming on Thursday. I'm actually so excited to get it. Post will follow, of course.
Dresses. I couldn't tell you the last time I wore one of these, before Sunday that is. I bought two last week. They're those kinda that can be worn as a dress or a full length skirt. I love them! They are so comfy teamed with a pair of leggings. My new favourite thing to wear. :)
Making surprise plans. But since they're surprise, I'm not allowed to talk about them. ;)
May have a slight addiction to Sims Late Night. Even though it's started shutting in the middle of the game for no reason. :(
3 Little lovelies;  Listening to - Judas - Lady GaGa.
 Loving - Painted toenails.
 Smelling like - Snow Fairy.

Happy Easter!

I hope all my lovely followers have a lush bank holiday.

As it goes I have to work but I have today off. And as you read this, weather providing of course, I should be hitting it up on a beach, helping with makeup for a photoshoot.

I'm equally excited and scared because it's going to be super hot but it should be good fun!

City Haulin'.

I haven't done a haul in forever. October, if you'd like to be precise.

But I picked up some little beauties whilst I was in Bristol on Thursday with my BFF, so I thought I'd share.

I was just browsing the Collection 2000 section in Boots, with no intention to buy anything. But then I was overwhelmed with sparkly goodness that is - the Glam Crystal Liners.

I picked up two that I knew I'd wear most. Le Freak - a bright blue turquoise. And Shake It Up! - a rich purple with multicoloured glitter. Review to come on these soon.

They also had an offer if you spent £4 (or was it £5?!) on C2K products you could pick up a free nail polish. I went for Parma Violets - a rich deep blurple. It photographs super blue though! It really isn't.

Before that I hit up the M.A.C counter in Debenhams to Back 2 M.A.C. I got C to help me pick something as I had no idea what I wanted. We both decided on Rebel. I was eyeing it up beforehand but was sure it would look too dark on me. I love it though.

I also bought Viva Glam GaGa 2 whilst I was there. I'd been after it since I came out, plus all the proceeds go to M.A.C AIDs. So I get something pretty for donating money. :)

Someday Summary - Sunday.

Sorry I've been a bit MIA this week. I've been all over the South West whilst I've been on holiday. Tuesday I went to see my best friend in Bristol, we did a spot of shopping, consumed lots of Welsh Welsh cakes and Starbucks, some photoshooting (post on that later) and generally had an amazing time. Then on Thursday it was off in the other direction, down to Plymouth to see my other best friend, who took me to see The Blackout. There's a video on my YouTube and a few photos on Tumblr till I edit all of them. Such a good night even if my foot got crushed and now I can't walk.
For a little while now I've been having these urges to cut my hair off short again. Not too short, maybe a few inches below shoulder. Here's a really old photo of when I had short blonde hair. Thinking a longer, darker version, maybe something like this? What say you? Do you prefer to have shorter hair in Summer?
It's really nice to see my post for Queen B got a lot of attention and is now my second most viewed post, of all time. A whole week now and it still doesn't seem real to me. :(
Organising. I recently acquired some storage (post to come), that now means I can store all my toiletries and nail polishes in once place. I like having them out as it means I can see what I have and don't forget about things.
I can't believe Easter is next weekend. It's later this year but still seems to have come round super quick. It's not all bad though, I have Sunday off! :)
Tweet tweet. If you're not following me on Twitter already, why not? I'd love some new people to talk to and follow. So head on over and give us a follow! @vegaslights_ I always reply if you @ me something. :)
♥ 3 Little lovelies; Loving - Summery weather.
Listening to - Higher & Higher - The Blackout.
Wearing - Glitter, anywhere I can!

Introducing The New Face Of GHD ...

Last week Katy Perry was named as the new face of GHD's latest hair campaign.

Why did they choose her?
”Katy is the epitome of modern fashion and styling. Her unique, ever changing looks are the envy of style devotees around the world. Katy completely embodies GHD’s spirit of female transformation and empowerment, as she is recognised as a cutting edge style icon unafraid to push fashion and beauty boundaries. Sassy, stylish and sexy, Katy is the perfect partner for GHD,” says Paul Stoneham, Chief Executive Officer, GHD.

Is there anyone who doesn't want a piece of the Perry pie?

Let's take a look at some of the photos ...

On first glances of the last photo, she looks a lot like Dita Von Teese, no?

Katy did a q&a with Beautylish. You can read the full interview here but below are just a few of her answers!

Q: What or who are the influences behind your own personal style?
There’s a big range of women who have influenced my style, from fictional or nonfictional characters. Lolita, for instance, has been a fashion icon for me, the way I imagine her and the way I’ve seen her in both the black-and-white and color movies. Some cartoon influences are Judy Jetson, Betty Boop and Wonder Woman. And of course, the real people: Dita Von Teese, Daphne Guinness, Agyness Deyn, Chloe Sevigny. Those women are my style icons.

Q: What is your favorite way to wear your hair?
I have two favorite looks. I like to wear a high, 1980s ponytail, a la Madonna, and I like to do a really nice 1940s set, a la Veronica Lake.

Q: What’s your favorite look or outfit on the California Dreams tour?
My cupcake-tiered skirt.

Q: Working with pros all the time, have you picked up any hair and beauty tips?
I think sleep is the key to a fresh look—eight hours is a must for me. I also think that hygiene is really important—I’m a big teeth/breath hygiene person. I think bronzer and a little bit of mascara go a long way. I love trying different types of mascara. The blue mascara from Dior is really fun. It gives you a whole different look.

Q: You’re an inspiration to women around the world, what advice would you give them about being a successful and confident woman?
It’s really all about developing who you are inside first and foremost, and once that is on the right track, you can play around with different products and things. I believe in integrity and respect, and I believe in independence. I can be a feminine woman without being a male-hater.

Q: What is your top hair tip?
My tip is to wash your hair every other day, rather than every single day so your hair doesn’t get too dried out. Your natural oils are friends, not foes.

RIP Ale - Queen B Makeup. ♥

Out of respect for the family I waited until I was allowed  to post this. Though some people are not taking their wishes into consideration and still persist on putting it all over Twitter.

It came as sad news recently that my dear friend Alejandra from Queen B Makeup, unfortunately passed away this past weekend.

She was one of the first 'Gurus' I spoke to when I first started out blogging. I was surprised she even gave me the time of day. But she made me realise I had a talent and should use it. She always supported me, even when I thought the looks I'd done were rubbish.

She was hilarious and always found a way to make me laugh.

No one quite did eyeshadow like Ale, and she always inspired me to play around with colours.

Here's some of my favourite looks:

She truly was a gem to this community and she will be dearly missed.

My thoughts are with her family and fiancĂ©e and this sad time.

RIP Ale. ♥

Revlon Colorburst - True Red.

When I started wearing makeup, the one thing I never though I'd wear was red lipstick. It's always seen as a classic look (Dita Von Teese) but one that scared and intimated me.

About a year ago I purchased M.A.C's infamous Russian Red. I cannot for the life of me get on with the matte formula so I thought reds would be totally out for me.

That was until I was sent this little beauty ...

What www.revlon.com says:
Instant burst of rich, true color with a featherlight feel.

Elasticolor™ technology provides immediate color release and hugs lips with a burst of weightless color that feels like a second skin

This really is a true blue based red. And you know what? I absolutely adore it. I'm not one for playing up my lips in anything bolder than a bright pink but I've worn this to work on numerous occasions. I even got told when I wore it on Friday, my complete stranger that it looked amazing and that she wishes she had the confidence to wear it! I still feel like everyone's staring when I wear red though.

Everyone has the confidence to wear it, you just need to find a red shade that's right for you. Whether that's a pink cherry red or a deep wine colour. There's one out there that's perfect for you.

This lipstick does exactly what it says. It goes on glossy and doesn't feel like you're wearing anything. As I don't own a single lipliner (you read right!) and don't plan to as I've no use for them, I line my lips very carefully with a lip brush (after using Too Faced Lip Insurance). Then I fill the rest of my lips in with a brush and then apply straight from the bullet on top. I team it with matte skin, barely there blush, structured brows and a slick of black liquid liner.

It's super pigmented and you get a good 8 hours wear with this because it simmers down to a non drying matte finish. It also leaves a stain behind so when it starts to wear away, you can't even notice.

Would I recommend? Yes. I am a slave to M.A.C lipsticks but I'd choose this over Russian Red any day.

Lush Ickle Baby Bot Bath Ballistic.

A Ballistic aimed at young children ... Which means I clearly had to have it! Such a child at heart.

This came out last Mother's day, or around that time because that's last years Lush Times in the background from when I bought it. That's how overdue this review is.

What www.lush.com says:
A ballistic that will send little ones off to sleep? Does not compute! Drop it in the bath with baby bots to calm them down. They'll soon be dreaming of electric sheep with a sleep-inducing combination of lavender and sandalwood oils.

The main reason I got this was because I like relaxing things as I have a hard time sleeping but I really don't like the smell of lavender. So I figured this wouldn't be too strong. I was right in thinking so. It's actually something I can put up with and rather quite like.

The scent isn't really overpowering, it's not strong but it's there. It's a very soothing and calming Ballistic, definitely one to use at the end of the day rather than the start.

The scent doesn't last as long as I'd like, since it isn't super strong but it does what it says.

This is the cheapest Ballistic they do at just £1.75, which is good considering the most expensive is £3.70. But most of them are around the £3 mark.

Would I buy it again? Yes, I've been repurchasing this since it came out last year.

Too Dolly FOTD.

I'm sure everyone's got those things in their makeup bag that the once loved but they soon get replaced a few months down the line by something new and shiny. The Hello Kitty Too Dolly quad is one of mine.

So I decided to rediscover it, if you will. This look came out kind of messy but it's not too bad. I think I got too much gel liner on my pencil but never mind.

I knew I wanted to create a smoky eye with Too Dolly in the crease. It came out a little more purple/pink then I imagined but I still like it.

Face:
Illamasqua Matte Primer.
M.A.C Studio Fix Concealer - NW15.
M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid - NW15.
M.A.C Blush Ombre - Azalea Blossom*.
M.A.C Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder.
M.A.C Impeccable Brow Pencil - Taupe.

Eyes:
Smashbox Jet Set Gel Liner - Midnight Black (blended along upper lashline, outer V).
M.A.C Eyeshadow - Phloof! (brow, inner corner highlight).
Urban Decay Eyeshadow - Bordello (all over lid), Gunmetal (outer V).
M.A.C Eyeshadow - Romping* (crease).
Illamasqua Precision Ink - Abyss (upper lashline).
Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil - Zero dipped in Smashbox Jet Set Gel Liner - Midnight Black (waterline, lower lashline).
M.A.C Zoom Lash.

Lips:
M.A.C Lipstick - Creme D'Nude.

* Limited edition.

Pink on the eyes can be quite hard to wear because it can just make you look tired. But I feel this  look went really well together.

Monthly Favourites - March.

I think I'm almost better. Yay! The last Doctor I saw diagnosed it as Bronchitis. Icky icky. I'm still a bit wheezy and rattly but normal posting has been resumed.

Now since I haven't really worn makeup for 2 weeks I didn't have a lot of favourites to choose from but here we go.

♥ Lush It's Raining Men Shower Gel.
This came out with the Valetine's things and I love it. It's main ingredient and scent is honey. It's sweet but also has Rosehip, Lotus flowers and Tiger Lily to break it up. It's definitely not something I've had before but I love it and it leaves my skin super soft.

♥ Urban Decay Naked Palette.
It was slightly obvious this was going to be on here. I love it so. It's got a really lovely selection of colours and I'm not normal one to reach for these kind of colours but they're really good to team with a bright lip and if you just want something quick and effortless.

♥ M.A.C Impeccable Brow Pencil - Taupe.
This is quite a hard waxy pencil but I fell in love with it as soon as I used it. The hairs on my brows are very dark brown but I feel weird wearing dark brown pencil, they just look too fake and drawn on and I hate it on myself. This is light enough to not look fake but also dark enough to still blend in and look quite natural, just more defined. It takes a little warming up and the pigmentation isn't straight off the bat, you have to work to get it super dark but that suits me just fine.

♥ M.A.C Lipstick - Viva Glam GaGa.
I temporarily forgot how much I loved this. It goes with everything. Dark eyes, barely there eyes, full on dramatic looks. It doesn't matter this goes amazingly with it. It's a Lustre finish and while some don't like them, I find them multi purpose. You can wear them sheer, just swiped once or twice over the lips. Or you can work and build up the colour.

♥ M.A.C Studio Tint - Light.
I did manage to get one post out when I was ill about Summertime makeup, where I used this. It's the only tinted moisturiser I've ever used so I have nothing to compare it to but coverage is fairly good and when topped with M.A.C's Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder it doesn't look too oily or shiny like some can.
