Something I've always wanted to try is the gradient mani. It seems recently ombres and gradients have been everywhere. Let's just clear something up first. These nails are not ombre nails. You can see the differences here. It annoys me a little bit when people call them the wrong thing.
Anyway, I got a little bored this evening and found I had some unused sponge tip applicators in my 88 Shimmer Palette. Usually the only thing that people should do with those is bin them but they can be used to make fav gradients if you don't have makeup sponges to hand.
First I painted a base which was 2 coats of Leighton Denny's Baby Doll. Once that was dry I used Illamasqua's Jo'Mina sponged onto the tips on one side of the tip. On the other I had a little bit of Baby Doll so I could get a nice blended gradient.
It was lacking a little bit so I used the pen side of my Models Own Nail Art Pen to add some zebra stripes.
For a first go at gradient and freehanded zebra stripes, I don't think I did too bad of a job. I was especially surprised that my right hand wasn't a complete and utter disaster.
I will definitely be trying the gradient mani more. It really does look amazing.
