Rainbow Lucky Charms

A Photo A Day For A Year - March.

Another month has flown past, another 31 daily photos have been taken:

This month seemed really long. The photos I took at the start of the month, it feels like much longer ago than just a few short weeks.

As always, I did get a little behind but I always manage to catch up. I find these challenges much more fun than the whole 'write something about your day' type things.

I much prefer looking at something that's aesthetically pleasing to the eye thought March wasn't my favourite list of photos, April looks to be better ...

Here's the list for April if you want to join in:

O.P.I Catch Me In Your Net.

I decided for this weekends nails, to use one of my most favourite O.P.I's.

Scouring the net, thinking this was from last years Summer release, apparently it was from 2010, the 'Summer Flutter' collection. Time flies, I didn't realise I'd got it so long ago.

But the mini set is still available on Radiant Babe and probably eBay. Also similar in colour to Zoya - Charla and Orly - Halley's Comet.

Applied with 2 coats:

It's a super lush metallic foil looking but it has a slight duochrome sheen where it can look slightly green/yellow.

I didn't want just plains nails so I topped it off with O.P.I's Silver Shatter:

The difference isn't as obvious as I thought it would be as both polishes have very similar finishes, in the sense that they're both have a foil/glitter finish.

I do however love this polish, it's definitely one for the sunny Summer days.

I'm Bulletproof, Nothing To Lose, Fire Away.

Today is Mumma's birthday and the first barbecue of the year, since the weather is so lush.

I recently ordered some OCC Lip Tars so I planned my look around the one I decided on using which was Anime, a super bright almost neon pink.

Of course, I also had work at 5 this morning so I'm ridiculously tired and didn't want too much under the eyes.

Illamasqua Skinbase - 1.
Benefit Boi-ing - Light.
Illamasqua Cream Blush - Sob.
HD Brows - Dark Brown (from Vamp palette)*.
Skindinavia Finishing Spray.

Urban Decay Primer Potion.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow - Virgin (brow highlight), Sin (all over lid), Smog (crease), Half Baked (browbone), Darkhorse (outer V).
Illamasqua Precision Ink - Abyss.
Barbara Daly High Impact Mascara*.

OCC Lip Tar - Anime.

I love how this came out.

What do you think?
What are you wearing now the weather's getting warmer?

I'm off out in the garden to bask in the shade and drink some yummy cocktails.

Enjoy your weekends lovelies!

Black Tips.

Whilst browsing the Illamasqua store a few days ago I noticed they said you could also use the Precision Inks for nail art too.

I probably wouldn't use them unless it's getting close to finishing the tube as they're expensive at £17 but I have a new one. So I decided to try my hand at this with the last few remnants of the old.

I've been using O.P.I Nail Envy on my nails so I can't really paint them but wanted to jazz them up a bit so I went with black tips, I've always love the look of those.

All I did was paint a coat of Nail Envy, add the tips and seal with another coat of Nail Envy. Simple.

Illamasqua Precision Ink - Abyss.

I much prefer the brush on this than to the Models Own Nail Art Pen, I really don't get on with that. I will definitely try this again, perhaps with a cheaper version though.

Have you ever tried something that wasn't nail polish for nail art?

Don't Let Me Die Young.

I was off all last week, I didn't get up to much but now I'm back at work and it's already taking it's toll.

Shrieking children and people telling be 'it's too good to be working' is my least favourite things. Unlike you, I have to be here!

I'm super sleepy this evening though and will schedule some posts in the next couple days.

001 Spring time flowers. - Roses are my favourite, especially brightly coloured ones. It's nice and cheery having them around the house.

♡ 002 Sunshiney naps. - So glad it's getting nicer weather again but it makes me sleepy! Getting up at 5AM does take it's toll in the afternoon and trying not to sleep takes it out of me.

Falling asleep/waking up to the sun shining is rather comforting.

003 Cheesecake. - Not actually a fan of cheesecake but I was super craving a piece on pay day. Picked up this delicious little slice from Tesco.

Super yum and I can't taste any cheese, like usual!

♡ 004 Pretty Little Liars. - I know I'm late to this one, since everyone was getting hyped up for 'A day' but I wanted to read the books first. I've slowly started them.

But I started the TV series a few days ago and I'm already currently watching S1 E17 at present.

It's super good and rather addictive.

♡ 005 Evenings at the beach. - We planned a trip down to Woolacombe last night to watch the sunset, only by the time we managed to get there it had long gone. Cheers traffic.

I do look forward to the longer evenings, BBQs and drinks with friends, warmer weather, all that good stuff.

♡ 006 Fluffy bunnies. - Bought this little guy home today. He's a dwarf agouti and a super cutie, ooh I rhymed! He doesn't yet have a name. I just call him Studmuffin. All will be revealed on that front in a few weeks.

What are your favourite pet names? Help me think of something?

Tribute Makeup & Nails.

In just over 4 hours I'll be sitting in the cinema watching the first showing of The Hunger Games.

If you hadn't guessed already, I am freaking excited. The books are fabulous so if you haven't read those, I highly suggest reading before seeing the film.

It's only right I wore a Games related makeup look, right?

I took two elements from the book, firstly Cinna's gold liner, for the movies MUFE's Metal Powder in #1 Sunflower Gold was used:

I also decided to use the 'Girl On Fire' element that Katniss gets dubbed as for the lips:

There's no photos of this online, bar this tiny cap I got from the trailer. But if you've read the books, you'll understand why she has the name.

Here's my look:

M.A.C Matchmaster Foundation - 1.
Benefit Boi-ing - Light.
M.A.C Powder Blush - Well Dressed.
HD Brows - Dark Brown (from Vamp palette)*.
M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish Natural - Light.

Urban Decay Primer Potion.
Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil - Honey.
Nouveau Lashes Noir Mascara*.

Benefit Lipstick - Flirt Alert.
Illamasqua Lipstick - Flare*.

China Glaze - Free Love.
LCN - Wet Look.

I'm pretty happy with how this came out.

I plan on wearing this with a bright red Aran cardie, to finish off the firey look.

I'll be sure to do a post about the movie when I've seen it (without spoilers, I know how annoying those are).

As I said before, I sincerely hope it lives up to my expectations.

Are you doing anything special for the release?

Illamasqua - Human Fundamentalist.

As always, Illamasqua's long hyped up new collection for Spring Summer 2012 has finally been released.

It's full of gorgeous teals, plenty of purples and a dash of pastel brights.

Human Fundamentalism is an explosion of your alter ego. It's becoming who you are and not who you're told to be. Because beauty isn't conformity, but the fundamental human desire to express your inner self on the outside.

Rise above mainstream limitations and exist in a world where individuality is received with celebration not derision, and breaking the mould is a sign of strength not invisibility.

We stand for freedom of expression, embracing our glorious imperfections and  showing the world we're not ordinary but extraordinary, even if society refuses to accept it.

We're beyond conformity. Beyond control. Beyond hiding who we really are. We are not a religion, but the singular opposite.

We are Illamasqua.

Eyeshadows in Pivot (yellow green), Burst (blue green) and Vernau (yellow ochre).

I received 3 eyeshadows and a sealing gel. I already have the latter and I adore it, it's the perfect way to turn your favourite eyeshadow into a long lasting liquid eyeliner.

These matte eyeshadows are the first I've tried from Illamasqua. I was always a bit wary of them. I have a couple of matte shadows from other brands and find them to be a bit chalky.

Whilst these are completely flat, they don't take too much work in getting an opaque colour, as shown above. That's just a couple swipes straight onto dry skin.

I would have purchased Pivot and Burst, those colours are so me. Vernau? Not so much. I'm wondering the best combination to try and use this. If you have any ideas, do let me know as I'm not used to working with such colours.

You can check out the collection here. There's 3 other eyeshadows, a black, white and gorgeous pastel lilac - which will be mine!

I've been wanting an opaque white liner for ages. I got a Fluidline a few years ago from M.A.C but it was horrible to apply. I use my Abyss Precision Ink in most of my looks so I will be picking up the new addition in Scribe which is a pure white.

I also have my eye on the teal lipstick used in some of the promo images called Apocalips.

Have you shopped this collection yet? What did you think?

I am definetly prefering this over the Winter Theatre Of The Nameless.

I'm A Prima Donna Girl.

For the last week I'd seen these GIFs all over Tumblr:

I didn't realise it's from the new Marina & The Diamonds new video - Primadonna, until I Googled the lyrics.

On watching I fell in love with the makeup and decided I had to try my hand at recreating.

Here's my version:

M.A.C Matchmaster Foundation - 1.
Benefit Boi-ing - Light.
M.A.C Powder Blush - Well Dressed.
HD Brows - Dark Brown (from Vamp palette)*.
M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish Natural - Light.

Urban Decay Primer Potion.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow - Sin (all over lid), Darkhorse (crease, outer V), Virgin (highlight).
Smashbox Jet Set Eyeliner - Midnight Black (upper lashline, to create bottom lashes).
Barbara Daly High Impact Mascara*.
Sally's Eyelashes - 116.

M.A.C Lipstick - Pink Nouveau with Viva Glam Gaga dotted over the top.

I can't get on with bottom falsies, especially cluster lashes so I decided to just draw them on with gel liner.

I hadn't intended on the lip being so bright either but I was also getting ready to go out so didn't have too much time to mess around.

This is such a cute look and made me feel like a doll. I will definitely be trying my hand at recreating more celeb looks. If you want to request anything, do feel free to let me know.

Nicki Minaj x O.P.I - Save Me.

I don't usually post my nubbies but since this collection is still knocking about in Sally's and online, I thought I'd pop it up whilst it's still available.

When I saw the promos for this, it was the one polish I hated. It looked so ugly. But it was the only one I ended up picking up. Pink Friday was only a shade or so lighter than Leighton Denny's Baby Doll.

It's a pretty sheer polish that could be used as a top coat or made opaque with 3 coats, which is what I did for this mani.

Save me is a silver glitter base suspended with holo glitter strips. Is that what you call them?

Overcast lighting:

In some lighting it still looks pretty gross but in other lights it just dazzles.

I didn't use a very good top coat with this and it's started to peel off in big pieces, like I've heard people say about many O.P.I glitters (Rainbow Connection springs to mind) like this. I may or may not have helped it along the way ... Ahem.

Either way I do love the effect of this polish and I'm currently rocking it on both fingers and toes!

M.A.C's Animal Testing Policy.

From what I can gather this isn't a new policy as such.

But places such as China require that any cosmetics being bought there, must first be tested on animals. That is their law.

So whilst M.A.C products aren't being tested on for the UK/US, when they say they only do when required to by law - that is what they mean.

Glossybox - March.

The much anticipated Harrods box*.

After last months less than brilliant reception to the February Glossybox, they come back with a fabulous luxe collaboration with Harrods.

YSL - Forever Youth Liberator Serum
£60 / 30ml
This is dubbed as a powerful serum enriched with 3 glycans to help increase youthful activity in skin cells. This is such a nice little sample considering you need 1 drop, twice daily after cleansing. It feels fresh but is lightly scented (as with all YSL products). I can't really comment on how much it helps my skin as I still have young skin yet but it feels really nice.

Molton Brown -Heavenly Gingerlily Moisture Bath & Shower

£18 / 300ml
When I first laid on this my first thoughts were that I was going to hate it. Something gingery? No thank you! The scent definitely reminds me of something I've tried in the past but I can't put my finger on it. It's ultra moisturising as it has added tamanu and macadamia oils. I used it in the shower and it left my skin smelling sweet and feeling highly moisturised.

Narciso Rodriguez - For Her EDP

£55.50 / 50ml
I'm very particular with scents, I like sweet fruity scents. This is a very woody, musk type scent and I'm honestly not a fan of it. It doesn't smell very feminine to me.

Clarins - Extra Firming Body Lotion
£39.50 / 200ml
This lotion is rich in regenerating and firming plant extracts that help to life and tone skin. It's a super thick, soft buttery texture with a light fragrance. It sinks in quickly. I've never thought they actually worked on firming skin so I once again, can't comment on that aspect. But it leaves my skin super soft.

Burberry Beauty - Miniature Lip Cover - Rosewood No 4
£23 / 3.8g
This has to be the star of the box. A mini lipstick? Oh the novelty! Whilst this isn't a colour I'd usually wear, it seems a bit of a more 'mature' colour, but I really envisioned this with a sharp, bold eye. I will have to do a full look with this soon and see if it looks as good as I imagine. It glides on and leaves behind super pigmented colour and really does last.

Once again I've seen people moaning about not getting a full size products. Can I just remind you, you're signed up to a service which provides with you luxury samples. You're going to be disappointed if you expect something full size every single month.

This was a cracker of a box though and full of products I will definitely use (bar the perfume).
