Boxing Day Blues.

As I quickly touched upon in my last post, Christmas was truly wonderful but it didn't last nearly long enough.

Previous years have just felt like pretty regular days. Both days this year I was surrounded by family. Everyone headed up to my Nan's for a Christmas dinner and then a cold buffet on Boxing day.
Everyone had lots of laughs, caught up with each other, watched films and even cracked out the Trivial Pursuit. Christmas isn't the same without it. My team won, obviously!

I also got pleasantly surprised with gifts that I wasn't expecting.
I got my boots that I showed you earlier in the month from my Daddy. I also received beautiful glass tea light holders, a Homebase gift card (perfect for helping me decorate my room), money, chocolates, a charm bracelet, A Street Cat Named Bob, a set of nail polishes, socks, a Lush massage bar, a lovely oversized cardi and a couple of Starbucks mugs from the rest of my family.

Not an awful lot in comparison to some people but I couldn't be happier. I really wasn't expecting anything. What I was most looking forward to Christmas for was the family time. I might have been ill but it was just brilliant. The excitement tired me out though, hence opting for easy makeup for Boxing Day but something that still left an impact.

I had planned on green eyes and a red lip but I actually got ill over Christmas so decided to go for something less in your face.

I absolutely love this glitter liner. It's perfect for the holidays and a real bargain at just £2.99.

It's Chriiiistmaaas!

I just had to share this comic. I creased right up when I came across it on Tumblr.
Source.

Doesn't time fly?  I swear we were in October just a couple of weeks ago. Madness!

I had planned on getting a couple more posts up before Christmas but I've been struck down with some kind of cold/flu thing since Thursday. It's making me feel positively awful.

I just wanted to make a quick post and wish all my followers a merry Christmas (if you celebrate). Recent years have just felt like an ordinary day for me. But this year I get to spend the special day with a ton of family that I hardly ever saw (until I moved) and so have never spent a Christmas up here. To say I'm a little bit excited is an understatement.

I'm going to take a little bit of time off from the blog. Though I think most people are in favour of spending time with family. Fear not because I will be back towards the near year with lots of posts that I've been meaning to write for ages and lots of fresh new ideas. I'll be entering my fifth year of blogging. It sure doesn't seem that long.

I hope you all have a fantastic few days. Eat lots of yummy food and get a little bit merry. There's always next year to get back on the wagon!

Lush Twilight Shower Gel.

I had planned on posting this a little bit earlier than I have but time seems too have run away with me this past fortnight.

Right before the release of the Christmas Lush products, I was really wishing they had a 'sleepy time' shower gel.

What www.lush.co.uk says:
Because we are all made of stars

A lavender and malt notes shower gel to calm, relax and comfort as it helps you transition from day to night.

Do you want to look up at the night sky and remember that you are part of it? Then Twilight will help you connect. For a good night’s sleep, use this before bed.

Lavender infusion and essential oil calm and relax both the mind and the skin. Tonka adds a note of vanilla and fruit, whilst benzoin has a sweet balsamic quality, whilst also calming the skin.

Together, they can lift your mind to higher planes and help you let go of your earthly worries.

The period between sundown and nightfall is often called the blue hour, because of its distinctive ambient light. Our blue purple shower gel tries to capture this, with a twinkling of stars added too.

This fragrance, from our Twilight ballistic, is so popular that our Customer Forum members frequently vote for it to go in special products. This limited edition Christmas shower gel is launched just for them this year.
_________________________________________________________________

This is the perfect shower gel (also can be used in the bath) to unwind at the end of the day.

I'm not a fan of lavender much, though it does make me sleepy. I just really don't like the scent of this. In this it's very dominant but not too over powering when mixed with tonka and ylang ylang.

Inhaling it currently is making me want to settle down and sleep. I actually used this in the bath earlier. It froths up nicely and leaves the bathroom quite strongly scented.

I really love this and wish I'd picked up another one. I shall be saving this for those evenings where I need to unwind. In the hope it will be repromoted next year.

Lush Cinders Bath Ballistic.

The first time I shopped at Lush, quite a few years ago now, was around Christmas time. I became so enamoured with Snow Fairy that I didn't bother with any of the other Christmas bits at the time.

The year after that I managed to take time in looking at everything. I picked this up on a whim and have loved it ever since.

What www.lush.co.uk says:
Are your ugly sisters and evil stepmother annoying you? Well, escape to the bath for an hour with Cinders.

A ballistic to evoke sitting by a crackling open fire, drinking a glass of warm punch.

A real Christmas time ballistic that fights the chill and brings peace and comfort. Lie back, letting the water support your body, and listen to the fire as the smell of warm fruit punch fills the room.

Almond essential oil, sweet orange oil and cinnamon leaf oil give a smooth fruity scent with a touch of spice. It lifts the mind and lingers on the skin.

We've also put popping candy in this mix, which gently crackles in the water, giving you a bath with sound effects. If you really want to hear them go, then dip your head underwater for the full cacophony.

Have a Cinders if you want to hide away from the big bad world and feel the warming comforts of home. Great too if you just want to blow away the cobwebs in your mind, or the dust and soot from your body.
_________________________________________________________________

I'm not a fan of cinnamon in anything, be it food or otherwise. I really don't like the scent which is why I was hesitant to pick this up.

The scent is hard to pin down. Whilst the cinnamon is definitely something you pick up when first inhaling it, it's quite sweet when mixed with the orange and almond. It gives a really warm, spicy scent. I'm currently sat sniffing the last one I have. It's so good!

It also contains popping candy so when it hits the water it starts crackling away. It also turns the water an ... 'interesting' shade of yellow.

This ballistic really is perfect for Christmas and I look forward to picking up a couple every year.

Glossybox - December.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

I cannot wait for Christmas. And with that comes another Glossybox instalment this time the 'festive celebrations' box*.

Milk_Shake - Conditioning Whipped Cream
£14.79 / 200ml
Haven't had a chance to try this yet. All I know is it smells absolutely amazing. I can't stop taking the cap off and inhaling it. It's just too good.
I've not tried a leave in conditioner since I was in my early teens, possibly earlier so I'm looking forward to seeing how this fares.

Sebamed - Anti-Dry Hydrating Body Lotion
£6.99 / 200ml
This is the perfect lotion if you have super sensitive skin as it moisturises the skin without attacking the skin's natural protectent. All of the Sebamed range is pH neutral and calms the skin from flare ups.
It's quite a semi thick lotion that spreads easily over the skin upon application and sinks quickly in. Literally, record time! It's scent is very mild and not something I can put a name on. It just smells of lotion.
This is a really good price and I think I might have to pick up a tub of this as it seems to work wonders on those tough dry areas.

Mary Greenwell - Lemon EDP
£30 / 7.5ml
£60 / 50ml
£90 / 100ml
I truly wasn't expecting to like this. Very few perfume samples excite my scents but this is really nice and surprised me.
Glossybox say 'Lemon’s fragrance notes are, on the top lemon, lime, mandarin, bergamot and bitter orange. The heart is filled with narcissus absolute, clary sage, hyacinth.
I say it every tiem but I'm terrible at explaining fragrances. I find it quite a personal thing as it's something that tends to sit a little differently on various people's skins.
I really do like this but the price tag is a deal breaker for me. The way I go through perfume though, this would have to be a no from me.

Seche Nail Lacquer - Elegant
£9.95 / 14ml
I've been a long time lover of Seche's famous top coat. So I was quite excited when I heard a while ago that they were releasing a 33 shade colour line.
Elegant is a bronzed shimmer. Nothing more, nothing less. I actually really don't like this colour on me. For nails I generally prefer cooler colours.
This goes on easily (though I prefer wide brushes) and is almost opaque in one coat. Like the top coat it dries really quickly and looks extremely shiny.
If this was in a colour more to my liking I'm sure I would have loved it.

Sleep Makeup - True Colour Lipstick - Coral Reef
£4.99 / 3.5g
I've only ever tried Sleek's eyeshadows. I think that's their stand out product so I was quite pleased when I got this as I wouldn't have bought it myself. I don't have Sleek near me (that I know of) and when purchasing lipsticks I like to get a feel of the opacity and texture before committing.
Coral Reef isn't a Winter colour. It's very summer-y. It's a super bright coral with just a tinge of pink but looks very pink on camera.
I can't speak about the longevity and wear of it yet but I shall do a review on that with swatches at a later date.

Glossybox Blusher - Glossy Rosewood
2.5g
In the past Glossybox have included their own branded products into the boxes. First there was a compact mirror. In June they included a blush brush which seemed to go down like a lead balloon. People didn't like that it counted as one of the 5. In August they added in a really lovely lipstick that I adore for days when I can't be bothered spending too much time on makeup. And they didn't include it in the 5 samples so people were happier.
Now they bring us a powder blush. I thought this might be similar in colouring to M.A.C's Well Dressed but it's in fact a lot lighter, matte instead of shimmery and has a stronger blue tone to it which gives it just a touch of lilac in the colouring. Definitely M.A.C's Snob in blush form.
I really like this, it's not too pigmented but it's buildable. Which I prefer as I can sometimes be a bit heavy handed when applying blush.
_________________________________________________________________

I actually quite enjoyed this box. I love everything bar the colouring of the polish but all the products work really well. Price depending (I'm looking at you, Mary!) I would buy all of these.

Lovely end to the year and I'm looking forward to seeing what next year brings us.

I figured I'd pop this up before Christmas since it's mostly holiday orientated.

Peppermint mocha frappe, yum! // a sprinkling of snow (and hopefully nothing more) // cute little tea light holders.
Decorating my bedroom that was bright orange when I arrived // work Christmas tree // an eBay bargain.
Fabulous wrapping paper // Santa // Daddy found an icicle in the garden.
Best cider ever, why haven't I had it before? // Needed a pick me up at work // Christmas Glossy.
After a long day // wrapped up for Winter in my new hat // extreme wrapping, I had extra wrapping paper so decided to make bows out of it!

Not the most exciting edition but I've mainly been sleeping and working. Fun!

Candy Yum-Yum Returns ... For Good!

In Spring 2011 M.A.C released the Quite Cute collection. With that they released a neon pink lipstick that everyone went crazy for. It sold out ridiculously quick. Thanks to my best friend Adam, I managed to get my hands on it.

M.A.C then re-released it again after summer as part of the By Request collection.

"The Lipstick dreams were made of" is back so you can get your fix of the vibrant, matte pink of Candy Yum-Yum. The colour most coveted by makeup artists and enthusiasts alike in M.A.C By Request is now available to you permanently. Enjoy!

Santa Came Early.

I've long craved for timeless boots that will last me and still me comfortable no matter how long you're on your feet for.

I got some lovely boots from Next last winter but after a few hours the wooden heel (albeit a tiny one at that) makes walking really quite uncomfortable.

When I was 13 or so I had a plain black pair of DM's that from what I can remember, were extremely comfortable. I don't quite remember the breaking in process though.

Way back in May I posted my first Weekend Wishlist and one of the main things I wanted was those DM's. Two things put me off buying them - the price and the fact that the patent variety are notoriously a lot harder to break in (obviously) and a darn site more painful.

Whilst browsing Office on Wednesday, lusting after things I wish I could buy (I have a habit of doing this). I noticed that those boots were in the sale. Originally £90 now down to £55. Whilst that's still a fair amount of money it's almost half off.

My Dad (being the awesome person that he is) told me I could order these as Christmas/birthday present. Which considering I wasn't expecting a single thing was a pleasant surprise. He always used to wear them when he was growing up and he loved them, not only for their style but their comfort. Which is why I think he felt more inclined to let me order them. He knew they'd last me if I look after them.

I ordered them late Wednesday evening. As Office only gives you the standard deliver for sale shoes I was expecting them to be here Monday, as they do say 4-7 days. They were here by a little after midday on Friday. Nice going Office!

I honestly could not be more happy with them. They are beautiful.

I'm currently trying a few different ways of wearing them in and hoping I don't get the dreaded blisters that breaking DM's in are renowned for. Or at least ones that aren't super bad.

I will blog more on these methods at a later date and whether they were a success or not.

Christmas Spice.

This year Christmas I've been short on cash. Moving and decorating is expensive. I never want to do it again. Because of that I haven't managed to get my hands on any of the Christmas Yankee Candles. Christmas sales, maybe?

I picked these up last week and have been burning them ever since.

They're just the perfect scent for the holidays. It's deep, rich and spicy but quite subtle too. Not at all over bearing.

Sainsbury's also have a Christmas Tree scent and a Frankincense and Myrrh. They also have a third of all Christmas scents and accessories.

I'm hoping to get lucky after Christmas and pick up some of the pillars at an even more reduced price.

Carmex Cherry Tube.

In recent months I've reviewed a couple of other Carmex products. This is the last one I have in my stash that I haven't showed on here.

They're just too good to not share why I think you need at least one in your life.

What www.mycarmex.com says:
A formula with menthol and camphor provides cooling pain relief. Our glide-on balm includes cocoa butter for smooth, velvety feel plus a touch of mineral oil to improve spreadability and help soften and hydrate skin.

Your skin’s lipid bilayer is made up of two layers of fatty acids; its job is to help keep moisture in the skin.

Our Cherry Tube includes lanolin, which replicates the way the lipid bilayer in your skin retains moisture.
_________________________________________________________________

I'll make this a quick one as there's only so much you can say about a balm that I'm sure I've said in my previous post.

But the formula on these are just fabulous. This has the same cherry scent as the potted version. These tube versions are perfect if you don't like potted lip balms. I need tubes for work as I'm always using my hands so it would be in no way hygienic.

It goes on easily and seems to melt over the lips. It leaves a slight tingling sensation for a short while after.

Overall I love the formula these, they really help keep my lips from being chapped. Definitely what you need for this colder weather.

Currently on 3-4-2 at Boots.

Work Face #2.

My second day of work, I decided to add just a touch of colour. I've been slightly reserved about it because I'm the 'new girl'. Even though I'm not temping for Christmas I still like I should go easy for now.

Maybe Christmas week will be a time to crack out the glitter liners and red lips.

Face:
No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation - Calico.
Benefit Boi-ing - Light.

Lips:
Revlon Lip Butter - Sweet Tart.
_________________________________________________________________

I've really been loving Revlon Lip Butters of late, especially this one. They give a hint of colour, which I actually thought I'd hate but they're buildable. It doesn't look as stark as a lipstick. It does however have the juicy finish of a gloss without the stickiness. Perfect!

Lush Party Popper Bath Ballistic.

Another Lush review for you. But I did promise I'd review all the Christmas things before they vanished for another year. I've done pretty good so far, so yay me!

This is just a short review today unfortunately!

What www.lush.co.uk says:
Pop in the bath and let's get this party started This fruity, fizzy party piece is a movable feast of delights. Contains everything you need for a celebration in your own bathtub.

Drop a Party Popper cone in your bath and watch it spin into action, as it goes on a spree across your bath spreading colours, fragrance, popping candy and soap confetti. Softening your bathwater, fragrancing your skin and washing you clean.

All the best parties have a glass of bubbly and this one is no exception, with a fragrance of bergamot and tangerine oils this is reminiscent of dry champagne and sparkly party drinks. So send out the invitations and get your party undress on.

The confetti in this ballistic is one of our newest inventions. Made from honeydew melon and soap, you can swish it to dissolve in your bath or scoop it into your hands and use it as soap to clean your skin.

We love decorations in our bath bombs – but we love it even more when they can be used to wash, are biodegradable and leave no waste behind.
_________________________________________________________________

I was really looking forward to this. The description sounded delightful!

As soon as I popped this in the bath the popping candy started crackling away, much like Cinders. It gives it the sound of a roaring fire.

After that stopped I was left with a bit of an 'oh'. It didn't change the water and the confetti was pretty much non existent.

I couldn't really detect a scent once it had gone into the water either. Upon sniffing it you were greeted with an awakening sweet fruity scent but it seemed to disappear in the bath.

Maybe I just got a bad one but I don't think I'd try it again as it has a great big thumbs down from me.

Work Face #1.

If you've been living under a rock lately and ignored all my posts and tweets, you won't have known I recently moved. Which in turn meant starting a new job. It's with the same company, just a different place, different people who aren't used to my crazy makeup looks.

I decided not to go all out crazy colours and go for something softer.

Face:
No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation - Calico.
Benefit Boi-ing - Light.
HD Brows - Dark Brown (Vamp palette)*.
Illamasqua Cream Blush - Sob (blush), Zygomatic (contour)*.
M.A.C Mineralize Skin Finish Natural - Light.

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow - Virgin (brow/inner corner highlight), Sin (all over lid), Naked (crease), Buck (on top of Naked), Half Baked (centre of lid).
Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil - Bourbon (upper lashline, lower lashline).
Barbara Daly High Impact Mascara*.

Lips:
Revlon Lip Butter - Strawberry Shortcake.
_________________________________________________________________

I really loved how this turned out. I found the Bourbon pencil makes my eyes look a lot browner. When I use most colours it makes my iris look close to black. The pencil bought out the richer colour and made it more prominent.

I felt like this was a good, safe option for a first day in a new place.

No7 Beautifully Matte - Calico.

I hope you're sitting comfortably, this is a long one.

When I go away I make lists. Lists of what I need to pack but even after checking everything and rechecking it, I always have the sinking feeling I've forgotten something.

When I went away last month I checked I had everything numerous amounts of times. It wasn't until the morning after I'd arrived, that I'd woke up fresh faced, ready to do my makeup - only to realise I hadn't packed my foundation!

Of all the makeup products I could have forgotten.

I promptly gave my Mum a rude awakening, dragging her out of bed and making her go and look in my room to see if it was there. Hello! Missing £25 foundation here! I swear my heart stopped. Turned out it was in my bed. Then I remembered it wouldn't fit in my makeup bag and I was going to pack it separately ...

It would have been utterly ridiculous for me to hot foot it to M.A.C to drop £25 on Matchmaster, which I have over half a bottle of already. It wasn't lost so there was no need to replace it.

I did however make a beeline to Boots. It was a good excuse to try out their new No7 'Foundation Match Made' service. It's like nothing I've seen before, which I think is why people are so curious about it. It's something they've worked on for over 3 years.

They use a gadget with a built in database they've created to take photos of the skintone on either side of your face. Each click (which only takes a second or two) takes 27 photos. Then it tells you exactly which shade you are.

You can find your closest counter that offers this service by selecting it from the additional services drop down here.

I of course ended up being the palest shade. Though I didn't think the colour match would be quite pale enough.

Top photo - daylight, no flash, no primer, no editing, no nothing.
Bottom photo - same light, same bit of my cheek, just Beautifully Matte and nothing else.
_________________________________________________________________

What www.boots.com says:
No7 Beautifully Matte foundation formula has been tested to provide a shine free look for up to 12 hours. Salicylic acid had been included in the formula to help unblock pores and improve the condition of the skin throughout wear.

It leaves your skin shine free - essential for anyone with oily skin. Minimising the appreance of pores, leaving a more flawless complexion.

With SPF15, it helps protect the skin from the damaging effects of the sun. Ethanol leaves your skin feeling cool and refreshed.

The formula has been tested to ensure it won't block pores and high levels of colour pigments means the coverage is relatively opaque with a silky matte finish. There is no powdery, grey finish associated with some matte foundations and overall looks flattering to the skin.
_________________________________________________________________

I don't claim to have perfect skin. In fact when people say I do from looking at photos on here, I will fight the fact I don't. It's just good lighting, the use of flash and foundations with SPF. The camera blurs over my skin. I will also admit I do 'shop out blemishes because no one wants to see that. You're here for the makeup!

However this post seems a bit redundant if I did that for these swatches. The point is to see how it really looks and if it lives up to it's claims.

Anyway! I so wish I'd listened to everyone growing up when they told me not to pick my spots (ick!). It's left my skin covered in scarring that looks a lot like acne.
_________________________________________________________________

The whole point of this post was the review. I didn't intend for this to be so long, oops!

I opted for Beautifully Matte as my skin is more combination than anything else but I do get quite an oily nose. So I wanted something that could help keep me shine free without having to layer lots of powder on top.

I use this with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush. It blends in perfectly to the skin without much effort at all. The colour is also spot on, which is a first. Usually high street foundations don't go anywhere near pale enough.

I love this. It lasts all day and still looks as good when I take it off as it did when it first went on. I do find I have to powder my nose a tad just to keep it completely shine free but I'm not applying nearly as much powder as I used to.

Overall I am extremely pleased with this foundation. I always dismissed No7 but I cannot recommend this highly enough. I really do love it, I've found myself reaching it for pretty much everyday since I got it.

Lush Candy Mountain Bubble Bar.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas ... And I'm finally feeling the festive spirit. I have been for a little while now. Lovely!

I'm sure I've said many a times on here, that I love Lush and their Christmas collections. Whilst you get the classic timeless products that come back year after year and then there's the new additions.

Candy Mountain is one of those classics that come out every year, looking different every time. After all you can't wear the same outfit twice.

What www.lush.co.uk says:
When the mountains of candy get too much, retreat to the mountains of candy foam.

Every year we give our best selling Creamy Candy Bar bubble bar a special outfit for Xmas. Two years ago it was in the shape of a candy cane, last year we turned it into a little swirly pink mountain peak – this year it is a little pyramid of pink and green. But whatever the shape and look, the thing that never changes is that lovely vanilla and candyfloss smell and the mountains of soft bubbles.

When the busy season has exhausted you, the hoards of shoppers have pushed and shoved you, and you think you can’t take any more – lie back in a Candy Mountain bath and feel its sweet and comforting hug.
_________________________________________________________________

It's no secret that my favourite scents from Lush are the sweet candy ones. If  you're a fan but Snow Fairy isn't for you then this just might be. Whilst it has the sweet candy scent, the vanilla absolute gives it a creaminess. So you're left with a delightfully sweet scent that's not to overpowering.

I used half the bar (or mountain) for my bath and that was more than enough to have a candy scented bath that still lightly lingered on the skin for a while after. It also provided me with a tub full of bubbles. I always find that these and Creamy Candy are super duper foamy.

This bar doesn't do anything too magic to the water, it had a very faint pink tinge. No sequins or bits here!

This is actually cheaper than the Creamy Candy bar, only by 5p but I'm not entirely sure if that's because it might be smaller. Though it's hard to tell with the differing shapes.

Definitely one of my Christmas staples and such a bargain too.

Kate Moss x Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte - 107.

This lipstick seems to have been a massive hit between bloggers for autumn/winter and I can see why!

For a while now I've been wanting a darker red lippie but all the ones I came across were too brown or just too dark in general. It wasn't long before I kept seeing a sultry deep red lip popping up on my Instagram feed. I asked the girls that posted the photos what it was and I got the same reply from all of them - Rimmel 107. I must have it!

This, to me, is the perfect winter-y red. I find it to be a very neutral wearable red. It doesn't lean too cool or too warm. It's one of those that tends to look slightly different depending on your colouring.

The finish isn't strictly matte. It has the pigmentation and 'stick' of your typical matte. I can go about my day without needing to constantly check if it's migrated but it does come with a slight sheen on first application. That fades away after time though and you're left with a regular matte finish that lasts. The creaminess makes it so much easier to apply. I can often struggle with application for dry mattes but this is a breeze.

I've worn this with both colourful eyes and more toned down shadows and it fits in well with both.

If you're looking for a deep red shade for the colder months, definitely look into picking this up. It really is a fabulous lipstick.

Buck Naked.

My FOTD's have been a little bit same-y lately. I've been using my Naked palette a lot. It was the easiest thing to keep out when I packed the majority of my makeup away for moving.

I was ridiculously tired last week but still wanted to look fresh faced. I opted for light eyes and a lipstick I hadn't used for a while.

Face:
No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation - Calico.
Benefit Boi-ing - Light.
HD Brows - Dark Brown (Vamp palette)*.
First Light Cosmetics Blush - Mistral*.
M.A.C Mineralize Skin Finish Natural - Light.

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow - Virgin (brow/inner corner highlight), Sin (all over lid), Naked (crease), Buck (on top of Naked).
Illamasqua Precision Ink - Glister.
Barbara Daly High Impact Mascara*.

Lips:
YSL Rouge Volupte - Pink Lingerie.

Skipping liquid liner feels really weird to me. I don't feel my makeup looks finished if I don't use it. I opted for Illamasqua's Glister as it's very neutral and blended in with the look.

Random thought of the day. Pink Lingerie is quite light in colouring and makes me feel like a cross between Barbie and Nicki Minaj when I wear it.

A little bit of a plain look but I thought I'd post it anyway!

Nicki Minaj x M.A.C Viva Glam 2013.

It seems Nicki Minaj is everywhere at the moment but maybe that's just me. I know she's somewhat of an acquired taste but I love her! Plus I think it's super cool that M.A.C pick people who perhaps break the norm.

I did wonder if Nicki would be kept on for another year like Gaga was and I just found out she's releasing a beautiful pastel lavender(!) pink. I still haven't got the current Viva Glam Nicki so I better get on that. I can't wait for this one though as I love lavender lips.

Nicki Minaj continues her reign as the hip-hop queen of M.A.C Viva Glam! The lipstick-loving diva is back to serve up a delectable duo of lipstick and lipglass in an all-new shade of pastel lavender pink. Every cent of the selling price goes toward helping women, men and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

Inspired By: Queen B's Passion Flower.

It's been quite some time since I did an 'inspired by' look (I've decided to add a tag for it).

I was looking for something really colourful and bright but was fresh out of ideas so browsed the older posts on Ale's blog.

Whilst it's not at all fitting with the season, I had an overwhelming urge to take inspiration from this:

Here's my inspired look:

Face:
No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation - Calico.
Benefit Boi-ing - Light.
HD Brows - Dark Brown (Vamp palette)*.
M.A.C Powder Blush - Well Dressed.
Illamasqua Cream Blush - Zygomatic (contour)*.
M.A.C Mineralize Skin Finish Natural - Light.

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion.
M.A.C Eyeshadow - Chrome Yellow (inner corner), Passionate (all over lid).
VIVO Pearl Eyeshadow - Electric Purple (crease).
88 Shimmer Palette:

1 (brow highlight), 2 (over Chrome Yellow), 3 (over Passionate), 4 (crease), 5 (above crease into highlight).
Illamasqua Precision Ink - Abyss (upper lashline).
Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil - Zero (waterline).
Barbara Daly High Impact Mascara*.

Lips:
Revlon Lip Butter - Sweet Tart.

I opted to go a little less darker as I unfortunately don't have as much space to work with between my crease and my brow bone. If I'd have gone too dark it would have closed the eye right up and I prefer how it looks without it. Colourful and bright!

I shopped my stash and used what I had. I used the M.A.C shadows as bases. They're matte so had good colour pay off. To add the shimmer I then used shadows from the 88 Palette over the top to give it a similar effect to the picture I was working from.

Overall I loved the look and got a ton of compliments on it.

Coconut Oil & It's Many Uses.

Have you ever come across one of those products that just wows you and you wonder what you ever did without it?

Coconut oil is one of those things for me.

Before I bleached my hair I was researching on cheap deep conditioning treatments. Coconut oil was the one that kept popping up the most. It's cheap, not full of chemicals and good for a multitude of things.

Here are just a few of those things:

Moisturiser - Along with most oils, coconut oil works wonders on dry/ageing skin. It can help with skin conditions such as dermatitis and eczema. The fats in the oil also help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Often expensive skin care products contain it as it works so well.

Deep Conditions Hair - Coconut oil is dubbed as one of the most nutritious things you can put on your hair. Massage into the scalp to get rid of dandruff. You can also pop it all over your hair for a luxurious conditioning mask. It's fabulous for split ends! It works just as well as Moroccan argon oil but at a fraction of the price.

Makeup Remover - I've been using this lately as an inexpensive oil makeup remover. I just massage between my hands and rub it into my face, then rinse with warm water. It takes off even the most stubborn mascaras and lipstick.

Pre-shave - Coconut oil works well to moisturise pre (and post) shave, without clogging up your pores. Letting you have an effortless shave and leaves your skin supple afterwards.

Helps Fade Scarring - Applying coconut oil directly to scars from burns, acne or even age spots can help reduce and fade the appearance.

Lip Balm - Rub a little into dry lips and it will help heal them back to their original state and gives you a little sun protection as it has an SPF of 4.

Exfoliator - Mix it with sugar or sea salt for delicious exfoliant that can be used all over the body.

Massage Oil - Pretty self explanatory but it smells wonderful and it's cost effective.

Sun Burn - Rubbing this into sunburnt areas will help speed up the healing process.

Removes Chewing Gum From Hair - Such a nasty thing to have to deal with, but if you happen to find yourself in this situation just apply to the gum. Leave for 30 minutes and it should just roll out between your fingers.

Hair Serum - A tiny amount worked through dry hair can prevent flyaway hairs and frizz.

Antibacterial Healing - Apply to cuts and bruises to reduce swelling. It creates a thin film over the top of any cuts so reduces the risk of infection whilst helping heal.

Cuticle Cream - Can be applied to cuticles and nails to help keep them from drying out and stimulating nail growth.

There is so many more uses you can find online just by searching on Google. There's hundreds out there for just about every and any use. I opted to post a few I've used myself and that are mainly beauty related.

Lush Bubblebeard Bubble Bar.

Picking up with the Christmas Lush collection I have the Bubblebeard Bubble Bar (what a mouthful) to show you today.

What www.lush.com says:
Cedarwood, sandalwood and tonka scented bath bubbles that are kind on your skin but tough on tidemarks.

HOW TO USE - Take your moustache and swish it under a hot running tap, to fill your bathwater with scented bubbles. Then just pop your moustache on the side to use again.

We can’t even remember why we chose to make a fusion of pirates and santa – but it is probably because we work on Christmas products during the summer months in our lab right next to Poole Quay with the sound of gulls and a salty sea breeze drifting through our windows. But it’s all good, because it made us come up with this treasure chest of delights, that not only cleans, softens and fragrances your bathwater, but provides a spot of bath time fun too. So come on, no one can see you - whip up those bubbles in your bath and use the foam to build yourself a huge white beard, then simply hold your moustache on a stick under your nose and there you are; Father Christmas ahoy!

You’ll get more than one use out of Bubblebeard – dry it after using then smuggle it away to use again another day.

If you are going to be singing The Trumpet Hornpipe in the bath – make sure you hit the High Cs!

If you have a cabin boy in your life who likes to use Dirty Shaving Cream, this bubble bar shares that same fragrance – so buying him one of these would make him a Jolly Roger.
_________________________________________________________________

When first smelling this it instantly struck me as a somewhat masculine scent. Since this is the same scent as the Dirty Shaving Cream, that would explain it.

The sandalwood oil and lavender absolute are the scents I pick up the most out of all of them. Considering the lavender is quit strong I suggest this for more as an evening relaxing bath.

The bar is white with a silvery white shimmer overlay. If you're not a fan of the brightly coloured bath water, sequins and other frills Lush provide then this is for you. It's a simple bubble bar that provides lots of bubbles without the fuss.

I love the bubble bars on a stick because they seem to last a lot longer than a regular bar as they have a harder formula. You just swish them in the bath and they provide lots of lovely bubbles. Definitely good value for money.

On a side note, it can make for a humorous photo op!
