Rainbow Lucky Charms

January Favourites.

It's been quite some time since I've done a monthly favourites post. I wanted to started it up and make it a regular thing this time around. I looked back thinking I started them a year ago for a couple of months and then stopped. Nope, apparently I started them two years ago. Doesn't time fly? Madness.

I posted about this recently. I've been using it daily to apply fondation and a dot of powder if I don't have time for full makeup.

Lush - Helping Hands
I had this in a couple of gift boxes for my birthday and Christmas last year. I dismissed it because I didn't like the scent and I find it hard to use something if the smell isn't so great.
I recently found it and have been using it on my hands at night. It's a thick cream so only good before bed but it's really helped get rid of any super dry bits.

Lady Gaga - Fame EDP
I have been loving this since I bought it earlier in the month. It's not as heady as I expected from Gaga but I really love it. I find it to be an in between of 'day' and 'night' scents, not that I listen to those.

Colgate - MaxFresh Night
I picked this up on a whim in Sainsbury's as it was just £1 and a couple of pennies (along with the day version). Health and beauty is so expensive so for toothpaste I tend to buy whatever's on offer.
I'm so glad I picked this up. Excuse me for the perhaps TMI. Sometimes I find when having a heavy nights sleep after not sleeping properly for a few days, regular toothpaste doesn't cut it and I end up with a gross feeling in my mouth.
This is perfect for banishing that 'morning breath' your mouth is as fresh feeling as when you went to bed. It's truly amazing. I definitely recommend and I will definitely be using this permanently of a nighttime.

M.A.C - Mineralize Skin Finish Natural - Light
I should probably do a full post on how much I love this considering I've recently hit pan on it.
I've taken to using this on my t-zone and my chin to get rid of any excess oil. I used to put all over my face but it looks more natural if you don't.

Since getting this in my Glossybox I've been constantly using it at work. The air conditioning dries my lips out like crazy. This is nice to have because the scent is very subtle so it doesn't bother me after a while.

O.P.I - Nail Envy
I'm once again attempting to grow my nails. I really hate them short. I've used this in the past and it does a fab job and helping my nails grow long and strong. It's just remembering to paint them every other day.

This colour is so perfect. Especially if you don't have much time. Bit of eyeshadow, some super black mascara and this applied to the lips - perfect!

Those are what I've been using most this month. I'm going to try and 'shop my stash' each month so I'm using things that maybe I tend to overlook.

30/365 - Float On.

I didn't end up going out today. Oops. Sleep consumed me though.

I did make some yummy food again though, drank a ton of water, had a delightful Snow Fairy pampering session and drafted quite a few blog posts.

Sabi Hair Removal.

I've never really got on with hair removal creams in the past. I wasn't a fan of the smell and they seemed very patchy.

When I heard about Sabi* and how it had been successful in other countries which was why it was coming to the UK, I decided I'd give them another go.

What www.sabiuk.co.uk says:
Sabi hair removal cream does not just work on removing the hair from the surface of the skin, but goes even further by reducing the appearance of hair re-growth and softening the hair so stubble is less noticeable. This mechanism of action provides you with longer lasting results and helps keep the skin smoother for longer.

Sabi hair removal cream is all it takes to remove unwanted hair from all body parts. Our unique, one fits all formula is balanced with natural ingredients leaving your body smoother for longer. Unwanted hair takes up to 7 days to grow back but when combined with Sabi delayer cream, 21 days between application has been observed. The Sabi cream works by dissolving unwanted hair rather than cutting (shaving) so unpleasant rashes and unwanted stubble on re-growth are limited. Simply apply our moisturising formula onto your skin, wait 5–7 minutes, And remove the cream and hair with ease.

The removal cream still has that typical scent but I don't find it extremely overpowering. It's easy to apply and doesn't leave an odd feeling on my palms after application, like previous creams did.

It gets to works straight away and leaves the skin hair free and super smooth after removal.

The delayer cream is a thin moisturiser that's said to keep hair away for longer periods of time whilst also reducing the appearance of regrowth.

Sabi contains natural ingredients like aloe vera, jojoba and sweet almond oil. These all help to nourish the skin and give you that super soft, silky feeling.

I really love this product for when I have a little more time. I love that this can be used all over your body including your face, you just have to remember to cut the times down because the hair is usually finer and the skin is more delicate.

If you prefer hair removal creams over everything else, I highly recommend this. It does the job easily and helps to leave skin hydrated.

Hair removal cream - £11.99
Hair growth delayer cream - £14.99

29/365 - Old Flames Can't Hold A Candle To You.

The current poor weather has left me a little uninspired with my 365 of late. I can't wait for drier days and longer nights so I can do out exploring and find more interesting things to photograph.

I had another pizza roll for lunch today. I drafted some blog posts, had a home made Chinese and caught up on TV.

Tomorrow I plan on walking to town to pick up my train tickets and go on a little adventure with my Daddy.

28/365 - Pizza Rolls.

Last week someone I followed on Instagram (can't remember who, sorry!) posted about making Gemsmaquillage 'pizza rolls' and I knew I wanted to try them at some point.

I didn't sleep too much the night before last so was getting progressively tired as work went on. I needed to eat after work but didn't feel like making much. The perfect time to try these. I Googled the recipe on my break and made a little shopping list of things to get on my way home.

All you do is get a sandwich wrap, put tomato puree on it, sprinkle on finely chopped veg, oregano, seasoning and mozzerella. Cook it in the oven (whilst keeping an eye on it, roll it up, cut it in two and eat! I put red onion, a baby pepper, sweetcorn and some crushed dry chillies in mine.

Granted, they don't look as good as Gemma's but oh my, they are amazing!

The best thing about these is you can switch up the ingredients and have absolutely anything you want.  They're super simple to make and if you're doing something like Slimming World you only have to syn the wrap.

Real Techniques Core Collection.

Something I've been meaning to blog about for ages is this brush set from Real Techniques. I bought it back in November when Boots had a buy one get one half price. It was the perfect chance for me to get the two brush sets and save myself quite a few £'s than if I'd bought them separately.

What www.realtechniques.com says:
- Includes 4 size brushes and case
- Look pixel-perfect even in harsh light
- Ultra-plush, synthetic taklon bristles are hand-cut and 100% cruelty free
- Extended aluminium handles are light and easy to use

Detailer Brush - Precision cut to effortlessly conceal problem areas or use with lipstick for long-lasting shape and definition
This brush is the prefect size for covering imperfections. It's also great for running concealer around your lips to get that really sharp finish when using bold colours, same goes for eyebrows.

Pointed Foundation Brush - Use with liquid foundation to build custom coverage
I personally don't like using these kind of brushes for foundation and in comparison to my M.A.C 190, it's significantly smaller. I prefer to use this to clean up any fallout under the eyes if I get any.

Contour Brush - Delicately applies highlighter to contour or create sheer, soft-focus finish
I absolutely love using this with cream products for the cheeks. It seems to deposit just the right amount of colour and blends effortlessly. It also works well with contour products as it's tapered and smaller than regular blush brushes. It puts the colour exactly where you want it.

Buffing Brush - Ideal for full coverage application of powder and mineral foundation
This is definitely the star of the collection without a doubt. Before getting this set I religiously used the Real Techniques stippling brush but I'd always heard good things about using this for foundation. Since trying it I've used it for foundation ever since. It leaves such an amazing flawless finish. When using full coverage foundations, I find myself using less product and it feels lighter on the skin but the coverage isn't compromised.

This set is absolutely amazing value. I would honestly purchase it just for the buffing brush. It's that good!

Before investing my first Real Techniques brush I was skeptical about the quality vs price. Sometimes synthetic bristles can be a little bit scratchy but these are perfectly soft. I've found the quality of them to be really good and they've become a firm staple in my makeup routine.

27/365 - Rouge À Lèvres.

I had a bit of a swatching marathon with all my unreviewed M.A.C lippies earlier. I managed to do all except 3 because the sun was fading and it was quickly becoming overcast. So the lighting just wasn't as good as I wanted it.

Don't be surprised if there ends up being quite a few lip posts in the coming weeks.

Besides that, I've had a pretty chill day. Had quite a long lie in (that I obviously needed) and a lush roast dinner cooked for me. Mmm!

26/365 - Sleepy Kitty.

I worked today which has messed me up a little bit. I was thinking it was Friday and it quite clearly isn't. Now that's over and done with I won't be doing it again for a little while.

I haven't actually been on my Macbook since Wednesday. Hence the flurry of updates. I will compose some more beauty related things over the next few days. I plan on swatching a number of products tomorrow if I can.

I've got a few regular posts I want to start doing again, like monthly faves etc. I'm just struggling with time at the moment.

25/365 - I Like Money.

I got paid yesterday. It seemed like a long wait. Such a shame nearly of it's going on bills this month. I have a little bit stashed away for my London trip. I'm so excited about that!

24/365 - Drink More Water.

Sorry for the lack of posting the last few days. There just wasn't enough house in the day recently!

One of my new year goals was to drink more water. I recently invested in a Water Bobble and I've been reaching for it non stop. It filters the water as you drink it and is just an all round fabulous little product.

Skinetica Anti-Blemish.

Skinetica was one of those brands that Glossybox introduced to me. They included a small sample of the anti-blemish in their October box.

It wasn't a big enough sample to really try out and see if it worked for my skin but I was kindly sent a full sized bottle*.

What www.skinetica.co.uk says:
Skinetica - skin clearing and blemish removal, fast acting - soothes, calms and clears.

Skinetica is a genuine product that actually does what it says on the bottle! A unique new solution that clears unsightly breakouts with visible improvements in 2-3 days.

- No harsh chemicals
- No side effects
- Kind to skin
- Dermatologically tested
- Non toxic, non staining, non greasy

Skinetica is a gentle blemish treatment that only contains 4 ingredients - purified water, ethyl alcohol, fragrance and quaternary ammonium chloride.

Unlike treatments I'm familiar with it doesn't have an over powering scent of alcohol. It has quite a fresh scent that isn't too strong.

There is one rule with Skinetica and that is to apple twice daily and wait for it to air dry before putting anything on top. I apply with a cotton pad after cleansing and let it sink in. It doesn't leave a tight feeling once it's sunk in. Then I apply moisturiser and makeup like normal.

This didn't completely rid my breakouts but I found the appearance of anything that came up look more reduced then normal. I also found any monthly breakouts became a lot less painful than before.

Overall I really rate this product. It seems a lot kinder on the skin than anything I've tried previous. Whilst it does contain alcohol it doesn't in anyway leave my skin feeling dry.

If you want to try Skinetica, they're currently running an offer where you can get a free 3 day sample by going here.

1 x 100ml / £9.99
2 x 100ml / £16.49
3 x 100ml / £22.49
4 x 100ml / £27.99
5 x 100ml / £32.99
6 x 100ml / £37.49

23/365 - Nothing's Ever Black & White.

Things are a bit weird lately. I've been feeling extremely sick and anxious all the time. The reason being eludes me. I put off sleeping last night till about 5AM this morning when I couldn't stay up any longer. I once again found myself stuck in a nightmare that seemed to go on forever. It was another upsetting one that left me a bit shaken when I woke up from it, and still now.

I briefly got up when the postie came. He delivered me a few little bits my Mum had sent me and this delightful phone case from Callum as a bit of a belated birthday present. I'd been eyeing it up on eBay but hadn't yet got round to buying it. I'd never mentioned it so it just reminded me how well he knows me and what I like!

I'm a little bit excited though because I've been planning to go to London pretty seen. Haven't seen Callum for a little while (feels like forever) and we still have Christmas present to exchange! Finally making plans this evening is getting me all excited. Hopefully I should sleep a little better.

22/365 - Nothing's Gonna Change The Way I Feel About You.

It's snowing again this evening. I'm sure you're aware of that and if not, you're no doubt bored of the updates.

I also can't believe I went to see The Blackout almost 2 years ago. I remember it so well. I had such a lush few days with the bestie. I've been listening to their new album this evening. They've taken a different direction but I quite like it.

I've been drafting some new posts. Over the past couple of days I've been writing something a little different to what I usually post. But it's taking forever because it's quite long and I keep wording and rewording it.

I haven't been sleeping too well lately. Nightmares and constantly waking up through the night is not a good mix for rest.

21/365 - Winter Comforts.

As I said last Monday, I leave for work in the dark and it's like it when I come home so getting a photo is hard when I'm working all day.

I was absolutely frozen at work yesterday so I opted for something warm to eat. Then had a freshly made roll and some mushroom soup for dinner.

I had planned on drafting some posts but I ended up being too tired.

Glossybox - January.

As we enter a new year, Glossybox bring us the new 'detox' box*.

Paul Mitchell - Super Strong Daily Shampoo
£11.50 / 300ml
Paul Mitchell seems to be a highly rated brand, especially in the US. I can't use SLS on my hair or it really irritates it. Unfortunately this has SLS in it so I will be passing this on to someone else.

Elemis Fresh Skin - Glow Facial Exfoliator
£12 / 100ml
The Elemis Fresh Skin range has been created and more geared towards teen to mid twenties skin.
This has a faintly sweet, fresh orange scent. It contains cherry powder and jojoba beads to exfoliate the skin. It also has mandarin and aniseed which helps with the appearance of the skin.
I actually really like this product and will definitely be looking into more of the range. I always saw Elemis as an older brand but it's really good they market products for the younger audience.

Monu - Aromatic Mask
£24.95 / 100ml
Monu is a brand that Glossybox first introduced me to. They've since popped up in numerous boxes and I've loved pretty much everything I've tried from them.
This is a natural clay mask that contains beeswax and coconut oil. So it really hydrates the skin. It says it's 'warming' but it's not all that noticeable.
Using this after a good exfoliating leaves my skin super cleansed and feeling absolutely wonderful!

Duck Island Limited - Body Lotion
£24.95 / 2 x 250ml
This body lotion is scented with mandarin and bergamot. It's really refreshing.
It's a thin formula that's mineral oil and paraben free. It sinks into the skin quickly and dries completely. It doesn't leave behind a tacky layer like some lotions.

Jason - Lips Bee Healthier
£1.99 / 4.6g
I've been religiously using Carmex since I got it many months ago. I still have the potted version and the mint tube but I've gone off the scent of the mint recently.
For such a cheap lip balm this contains really good ingredients like beeswax, vitamin E, green tea extract, organic aloe vera gel, Shea butter and sweet almond oil. It's also got peppermint oil which scents the balm, it gives it a faint smell of delicious After Eights.
It's quite a thick formula but it feels light on the lips and not to tacky. This is a really great find.

Glossybox Sleep Mask
A nice little extra that I've been using the past couple of nights, since the snow makes it so light outside.

Overall I think this is a good box to start the year with. It's a nice little selection of goodies to pamper yourself and pep your skin up.

£10 (plus p&p) per month
Subscriptions also available with discounts

20/365 - Mulled.

Today I've mostly been hiding inside from the snow (except when I took this photo outside), consuming mulled apple juice, trying to shift a headache, catching up on 90210 and thinking about future plans and prospects.

Snow Day.

Unless you live in the South West or Ireland, you've probably been hit by snow. We had quite a lot of it here and it's still coming down as I type this. Apparently it's snowing again on Tuesday too.

I don't really mind it. It's just getting to work a few towns over that's the problem.

I did take some video footage that I was going to put into a vlog but I'm not sure if I'll end up putting it up.

I hope you're all enjoying the snow, having fun and staying safe and warm.

19/365 - It Feels Like Christmas.

It's still freezing but I can't stop singing Christmas songs.

I went on a little walk earlier and took a bunch of photos, which I'll pop in a separate post at some point.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain - Lovesick.

Edit - Apparently this decided to post without the photo. This is the updated version, with the photo!

I've really been loving my Revlon lip products since the release of the new lip butter line last year. They're just so easy to use!

It seems just lately a number of brands are jumping on the 'chubby stick' band wagon and releasing lip products in an easy to use thick pencil. Even better is they don't need sharpening, you just wind them up!

I didn't have any intention of trying these till my cousin showed me this one as she'd bought it and really rated it. I just had to try it.

What www.revlon.com says:
It’s a pampering balm fused with a lightweight lipstain in an adorable chubby crayon. Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain gives softer, smoother lips with a perfect flush of color that lasts hour after hour. The gel formula comes in 12 vibrant shades that match any look or mood.

- Lightweight lipstain + moisturising balm
- 100% of women who tried it felt their lips were instantly moisturized with a soft stain of color
- Retractable chubby crayon, no sharpener required

I absolutely adore this! I thought it might be similar to Lollipop lip butter as it's a bright fuchsia pink. This is lighter and bright and has very fine purple and pink shimmer. It also has a refreshing minty scent to it, which makes a change from the regular sweet scents.

The first photo is freshly applied. The second is 5 hours later after eating and lots of drinking.

This really holds up when drinking and eating. I was apprehensive about how they would stand up to those task as they feel quite glossy on the lips when applied. But I had a drink quite soon after applying and noticed there was a lip print on the glass but it barely any of the colour had transfered.

After 5 hours my lips were completely dry but the colour had stained. If you suffer from dry lips it might be best to apply a lip balm over the top of the stain after a couple of hours as I found it could be quite drying at this point.

The deeper colours of the lip stains probably hold up better than the lighter ones. I have quite pigmented lips and I couldn't see the lighter ones doing anything to my lips if I'm honest. But this is a fab shade and I'm really happy with my purchase.

These are a steal compared to the Clinque Chubby Sticks at just half the price!

18/365 - It's Definitely Winter Now.

This morning I woke up to a thick white dusting over everything. Which would have been great if I didn't have work. It's all well and good for you guys in offices but I have to go to work no matter how bad it is. Today it was treacherous and the snow was coming down thick and fast for the majority of the day.

I'm off till Monday now so it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

17/365 - Healthy Dins.

It's so stupidly hard to try and eat well when it's freezing outside. The colder weather just makes me want to eat lots of comforting food!
