March Favourites.

The first 3 weeks of March seemed slow and cold. But the last few days have flown by, still cold though. I had to quickly gather together some things I'd been using most this month before we headed into a new month.

Balance Me - Super Moisturising Hand Cream
The cold weather has really took its toll on my hands. That and I didn't remember to moisturise them regularly. I've kept this on my bedside table and apply it each night, right before I go to sleep.
It's quite a thick cream which is why it's more suited to evening applications. It has shea butter and sweet almond oil to help hydrate the skin. It's scented with lavender amongst other things but that's what I pick up on most.

Lustre Drops are the perfect product to perk up the look of dull skin. It's fairly expensive at £17.50 for 18ml but you need just the tiniest amount. I've had this for a few years now and it still has loads of product.
You can mix this with foundation to warm up your complexion. I prefer to dot it along high points like my cheek bones and dab it in with my fingers. It dries really quickly so I find brushes don't fully blend it in enough.

HD Brows - Vamp Palette* & M.A.C - 266 Brush
This isn't just a monthly favourite for me. It's a staple combination in my everyday routine. I love both the palette and brush separately but together they're a perfect match.
The brush is thin enough to give definition to the brows, especially the ends. Where I've found some brushes can be too thick to get a thin enough 'tail'. It's firm but has enough give for it not to drag or deposit too much product.
The palette contains 4 colours, of which I only really use 2. Before getting this I was always a pencil girl, I didn't even realise there was such a thing as brow powder. It took me a while to get used to it but I could never go back to pencil now. I find it gives a softer, more natural finish and lasts a lot longer.

I so wish I'd got another one of these. I had meant to but never got round to it.
It's the perfect bath addition for sleepy time baths. It's full of lavender, malt and tonka. It's really nice to wind down of an evening after a hectic day. Or even just to have a relaxing pamper night.
I hope Lush bring it back again this year because it's lovely.

Elizabeth Arden - Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant*
This rather famous little product is fab at multi tasking. You can use it for a multitude of things.
I've been using it on my brows to keep them in place, especially when plucking them. I also massage it into my cuticles when I push them back. It makes pushing them back a little more comfortable and easy to do. It also helps keep them hydrated and stops them from looking to raggedy.
_________________________________________________________________

Not an exciting selection of products but I've not worn a whole ton of makeup as I've been working all the hours I can. Leaving me little time to experiment with colour. It's a small price to pay so I can have spending money for IMATS!

83-88/365 - She Wears Her Veil At Night.

I wish I had Bernard's watch. Time is running away from me at the moment and although I'm always doing something. At the same time I feel like I'm not doing enough, especially regarding the blog. But I guess that's real life for ya.

I'm trying not to fret over it too much. If I can manage posts, I will. If I can't, I  won't stress over it. After all it's not my job.

I have bought quite a few new things this weekend so shall be posting about those in due course.

I finally got a haircut today. I was about 3/4 weeks overdue because I've just been so busy working. It had been looking awful but it's now super short (shorter than before) and I love it.

Tomorrow I'm going paintballing tomorrow with a bunch of friends from work. Easter Sunday is the only day where everyone is off at the same time, so they always do something. That's going to be interesting since I've never been before. I know it's going to hurt but it should be good fun.

78-82/365 - Waiting For Spring.

What is happening with this freak weather? The weekend marks the start of British 'summer' time but it surely doesn't look that way. I mean snow? Again? The cold weather has left me feeling under the weather. I've been throughly exhausted this week so I've been spending time keeping warm. I can't believe it's Easter in just a few days too. It seems to have come round really quick.

I also started the second Pretty Little Liars book (Flawless) on Sunday and finished it before I went to sleep. I want to get ahead of the tv show before it returns for S4 in the summer so I can see how much it differs. Plus I hate how it always ends on a cliffhanger and always leaves we wanting more!

Weekly Weigh In #4.

If I think back to last weeks post, I remember saying I'd be extremely happy with a loss of 2lbs this week and 2lbs the week after, meaning I'd reached my first stone. I'd set this in my mine as it seemed easy enough to do.

I'm not entirely sure what happened this week. To say I'm shocked is an understatement  Two reasons I felt would massively work against me this week was the fact it was WW and I felt incredibly 'fat'. And it was the last full week on the plan before I got paid so the fridge was looking somewhat bare by the end of it.

When I got on the scales and saw it read 'XX.5' I thought I'd read it wrong. 'Are you staying to group?' the lovely lady who does weigh in asked. 'Yes!' 'I'll keep your book then, well done on your 1 stone'. I couldn't believe. I'd craved chocolate and sweet things so unbelievably bad and what with being bloated, I'd sure I'd put on or perhaps lose just 1lb.

I still find it hard to wrap my head around the fact that I can eat so much and not feel guilty about a single thing, yet still lose weight.
_________________________________________________________________

The first day I went to group I asked my Dad to help me take a whole bunch of measurements. I opted on redoing it 4 weekly so I can see how much has changed over a month, it really helps to see small changes you might not notice until they really start showing.

So before group on Wednesday I remeasured and these were my results

Upper arm: -4cm
Neck: -2cm
Boobs: -6cm
Waist: -10cm
Stomach: -5cm
Thigh: -1cm
Calf: -2cm

I was so so happy with those. Such a difference to my first measurements. Also I'm not sure if I mentioned it in a previous post but I definitely did other places but I could tell before I measured that most of it was going from my waist as it looked tiny in comparison to my hips.

I've yet to do any exercise/body magic, besides my everyday walking etc. But I'm hoping to change that side of things shortly. It really goes to show that just changing what you eat can have a massive impact on your body.

71-77/365 - Tonight We Are Young.

I wondered how long it would be before I accidentally missed a day. I worked all day on Friday, came home and went straight to sleep. I woke up in the early hours of Saturday with the realisation I hadn't taken a photo for Friday. SO I just did two on Saturday instead.

I spent the weekend relaxing and catching up on shows. My Dad was also given a whole ton of photo slides from when he was little. It was so cute seeing all the family I spend time with now, when they were little ones!

The horrible weather leaves me so uninspired photo wise  Can we have nicer weather already please? Rather than just the odd day here and there.

Lady Gaga - Fame EDP.

I'm not usually one to buy into celebrity fragrances. I find them a bit of a gimmick and an easy way to make money without much thought put into them. I, of course would make exceptions for my favourite stars.

It seemed like I waited for ages for the release of Fame, the first fragrance from Lady Gaga. Even then I didn't snap it up straight away but upon sniffing, I knew I wanted it.

I'm glad I waited because I got a super good deal in Boots back at the start of the year. The fab thing is as I write this, the 100ml is on the same exact deal!

Anyway, on to the review.

What www.hauslaboratories.com says:
Lady Gaga Fame, The First Ever Black Eau De Parfum.

First of its kind, this perfume is an innovation in fluid technology. It's black like the soul of fame, but invisible once airborne.

Lady Gaga Fame is built around three main accords: dark, sensual and light. The dark accord was inspired by belladonna, the deadly nightshade possessed by haunted beauties since the 18th century. From this darkness, the fragrance evolves to a sensual accord of opulence, a fusion of dripping honey, saffron and apricot nectar. And lastly, the light accord whispers magnificence while the rich floral layer of crushed tiger orchid & jasmine sambac embodies a timeless beauty.

"Fame is an illusion. If you want it, anyone can have it" - Lady Gaga.
_________________________________________________________________

Firstly, the aesthetics. I love how the bottle looks it's very sleek and fits nicely in the hand. The clear class allows you to see the black liquid inside. The 3 claw lid can also be flipped upside down to house the perfume in a different way, which I generally prefer on my vanity table. It leaves the lid off so it's easy for me to just spritz and go.

The fragrance itself is somewhat heady. I expected something along the lines of Illamasqua's Freak in terms of strength and depth. Whilst the scents aren't at all alike, Fame isn't nearly as strong which is a shame as I find it doesn't last as long on the skin.

Whilst I'm not great at describing scents it starts off quite strong and not at all sweet. That's what I like about it, I usually opt for very sweet or fruity scents over anything else. But it simmers down to something a little more subdued with a hint of sweetness from the honey.

Overall I really like the fragrance it has fairly good staying power and it's definitely something I would repurchase.

Weekly Weigh In #3.

Sorry for the influx of these posts recently. I swear it will only be one week, I've just been trying to catch up.

Last Sunday lots of the family went to my Nan's for a mothering Sunday roast. Roast 'tatoes cooked in oil and an abundance of homemade Yorkshire puds. But lots and lots of veg and taking my own dessert helped balance it out.  I'd planned ahead for it and saved some of my syns for the few days before.

When I got home that night I felt really rubbish and tired and ended up having a little binge on some chocolate. I felt even worse after I'd done it and was determined I was going to put on everyday after that, so I was not looking forward to weigh in.

2lbs off though, which really shocked me. Bringing me to 10 in a total of 3 weeks. I'm really proud of that. Especially as I'm putting good stuff into my body and it's all yummy stuff I like. I find myself sometimes craving chocolate after a bad day or when I'm tired. But for the most part, during the day I find myself wanting to fill myself up with fruit. I ended up eating a whole ton of melon and pineapple at work the other day and actually had a 'food baby' afterwards. So satisfying!

Hopefully I can get 2 for this week and 2 the week after, bringing me to my first stone.

_________________________________________________________________

I really liked how the lip crayon has a slight warmth to it so isn't to matchy with my hair. The colour is perfect for spring/summer and it lasts for ages!

I recently (accidentally) overwrote the template I used to use for my FOTD posts and couldn't get it back. So I downloaded some new ones but when I saved them they looked all weird. A little tweaking in Photoshop and I found something that worked.

I've also resized my post photos so you can see the detailing of things better. Plus I'm changing my layout shortly and it'll look a ton better with bigger photos.

Weekly Weigh In #2.

I'm currently a week behind on these postings. Hopefully I should catch that up soon though.

This week wasn't the best for me. I personally thought I'd done really well but a mixture of too much work/lack of sleep and not enough free foods meant I paid the price on the scales.

I went to the pub to watch the game last Tuesday with family and did well only having diet cokes. Until the end of the evening ... When I did have a double vodka. That's the only day since I started that I've been over my syns. I thought because I'd been under the rest of the week it might balance out. But it was the evening before weigh in and I definitely felt like all that sweetener left me bloated.

During that week I had a bucket load of grapes. All fruit is free but I've since read online that too many bananas and grapes and slow your weight loss because of the super high sugar content. In the book they're neither a speed or superspeed fruit.

I also don't have much of a kitchen. Everything bar the sink is packed in a box in the living room. It's getting beyond a joke now, it's been like it for 3 weeks now and it shows no signs of going pack to normal anytime soon.

I was pretty gutted when I got on the scales to find I'd only lost one pound. My consultant said it might be because I had such a big loss the first week, my body is trying to balance it out.

I spent the rest of the evening telling myself it was not a gain or maintain and for that reason I should be grateful. But also because it's 8lb not 1.

64-70/365 - Smile Though Your Heart Is Breaking.

This week has just flown by. I possibly say that every week but I feel I haven't done much at all yet it's been 7 days since I last did a 365 update.

I've been finishing up the tail end up my overtime stints and spending lots of time with family. It's been nice. :)

A vague update but I spent hours editing something in Photoshop, only for it to look all weird when I saved it. Of course I didn't notice this till after I saved it so that was a waste of time and I'm super sleepy!

Glossybox - March.

As we enter another new month (March, already?!) Glossybox bring us the 'city chic' box*.

I also love how they're dispatching them earlier in the month. It seems like less of a wait for them.

TRESemmé - Salon Finish Extra Hold Hairspray
£4.69 / 500ml
I've been on the lookout for a decent hairspray for a little while now. My Bed Head Mega Whip has a light hold so ideally needed something to keep it in place all day. Especially when it's super windy!
This is perfect for that with the extra hold. It also has humidity resistance which is great for when the weather heats up.
It doesn't seem to have that typical hair spray scent, it smells somewhat sweet.  This is an all round winner for me.

Jelly Pong Pong Comsetics - Lip Blush - Cranberry
£12 / 2.5g
It seems every brand is jumping on the lip crayon trend just lately so this comes as no surprise.
Cranberry is a bright clean red that leans has a slightly warm base. I find when using red lip products with a more orange undertone, the fact it's paired with my hair which is very blue based, tends to pull the warmness out. Usually I don't really like warmer reds but this is something I can see myself wearing for spring.
It's a light formula but very opaque in colour with little work needed for such a good payoff. It lasts for hours without feeling dry on the lips and leaves behind a slight stain that's easily removed with makeup remover.

L'Occitane En Provence - Immortelle Precious Cream
£43 / 50ml
Apparently this cream has been clinically proven to reduce the look wrinkles and improve the general appearance of ageing skin.
It's a light cream with a slight fragrance, hard to put my finger on what exactly.  It absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn't leave a tacky feeling behind.
As for it living up to the claims? I couldn't tell you that because my skin is not it's target audience.

Elizabeth Arden - Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant
£25 / 50ml
This is something that I've always heard people rave about but never had much interest of trying.
Let me start my saying the word 'cream' in the title is somewhat misleading, to me it's not like a cream at all. More like a very thick gel and a little bit goes a long way.
This little product is amazing. It helps with a number of different things, the main being combatting dry skin with ease after just one use. I used this on my hands and it did a wonderful job at clearing up dryness and relieving any sore spots.
I've added this to my Boots wishlist for future purchasing.

Nails Inc. - Nail Polish - Bruton St.
£11 / 10ml
I love Nails Inc. polishes and they've featured in Glossybox before. The mini bottles are super cute and handy for travelling.
Bruton St. is a dusky pink with a slight hint of mauve to it. It goes on easily and  fully opaque in two coats. Gives a glossy shine and for me, Nails Inc. polishes always have good wear.
_________________________________________________________________

I really love the contents of this months boxes. Again, it's a good balance between skincare and makeup. Besides the L'Occitane I can see me benefitting from each item and I'll definitely be using them all.

Weekly Weigh In #1.

I recently restarted doing Slimming World (EE) properly a couple of weeks ago now. It took me a little while to get into it and I kept putting it off because I'm still getting used to being in a totally new place. Going into something like that on your own can be really quite intimidating. But my auntie/godmummy decided to come with me and we're doing it together.

I had wanted to posted about this when I started doing it but I was a little unsure. Weight loss is something that can really divide people. They either want to read it because they're in the same position or they don't want to see it at all, or so I find anyway.

Nevertheless I figured I would post weekly updates, without going into loads of detail. Purely for anyone that's doing the same and a little bit because it keeps me going and I'm really proud of myself so far.

My first week went really well. It was right after I got paid so I had lots of money for fresh fruit and veg (doesn't that just cost a ton though? WHY?).

I find that when I buy fresh stuff, I'll buy so much of it that a lot of veggies start going rubbish before I have time to eat them. I've been planning out my main meals for the week so I know what to get in and I find that's helped me waste a lot less, if anything at all.

Breakfast was the one thing that I knew I was going to find hard. I hate eating as soon as I get up but I've forced myself into waking up that little bit earlier, getting ready and then eating. I've found myself mostly consuming fruit with yogurt and occasionally a HiFi bar if I don't have any plans for any other HEXB for the rest of the day.

Work lunches are usually some form of protein and a sweet leaf salad with either extra light mayo or free french dressing.

Dinners have been consisting of protein along with lots of free foods such as noodles, pasta, potatoes and lots of different vegetables.

I've found I've snacked a lot less because I've been filling up on main meals, unless I'm at work. I always eat whenever I have a break because I find I need something to keep me going. I've been enjoying free foods such as fruit, 0% fruit yogurts, Sainsbury's version of Quavers (4 syns) and light Babybels.

For my HEX's I usually have 3 light Babybels, occasionally 40g of fat reduced grated cheese or 2 light Philadelphia tubs. I don't drink milk at all so I'm glad I can have some form of cheese each day. For my HEXB I tend to have a HiFi (or 2 if they're light), 3 multigrain Ryvita or 2 pieces of wholemeal bread.

As everyone seems to say, I've never ate so much in my life.

Weigh in day for me is Wednesday and for my first week I didn't think I was going to so great. During the day I felt I had a lot of water weight and I feared that would effect any loss I had. Clearly I was worrying other nothing as I lost half a stone in my first week. I know this isn't something that's going to happen every single week but I couldn't believe it. I'm in a new stone bracket and I have my half stone award already!

I'm not so sure how this next week will be but we shall see. I've stuck to the plan completely but I just feel a bit 'fat'. Stupid, I know.

Bit of a long post, I swear it won't be like this every week but I just had lots to share this time around.

If you're also following the plan, do feel free to follow me on Twitter and Instagram. I'm really enjoying the latter for meal inspiration at the moment.
