Ben Nye Translucent Face Powder - Fair.

I was questioning myself on what to post next and why I hadn't posted about this little gem. Let me be honest for a moment, base products aren't the most exciting things to talk about. I like colour, glitter and lots of it!

I bought this at last years IMATS and have been using it every makeup application since. So I think it's about time I posted on why it's become such a routine staple.

What says:
Ben Nye's famous silky smooth powders easily absorb excess oil and moisture. Can also be used for contouring and highlighting, and adding a gorgeous glow to the skin.

Neutral set - Contains anti - perspirant to counteract shine.

First of all let's talk about the thing that is probably what draws most people to it. The price per gram. The two previous setting powders I used before this were the Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder and the Mineralize Skinfinish Natural, both by M.A.C.

Ben Nye - £8.15 / 85g = 0.09p per gram
Prep + Prime - £20 / 8g = £2.50 per gram
Mineralize Skinfinish - £22 / 10g = £2.20 per gram

The price difference is a little bit crazy, no? After working out the massive price difference, it's quite difficult to get my head around it! On that front it's most definitely good value for money so it's going to last you a long time.

As I said at the start of this post, I've had this since IMATS in June of last year, I use it without fail whenever I apply makeup and I've barely made a dent in it. I tend to apply a base everyday and I like to set it with this because I have combination skin. It gives me that extra bit of confidence that I won't be looking shiny in a couple of hours.

Ben Nye is a theatrical makeup brand so you know it needs to survive under a lot of pressure. What with those bright stage lights and having to last through the day, amongst many other factors. This powder really does go the distance.

It comes with a screw top that undoes to reveal a sifter. I tip a little into my palm and swirl my brush through it to apply. It's a finely milled powder that has no real colour to it. It applies beautifully to the skin especially with big, soft, fluffy brushes. It feels light and doesn't cake at all. Plus it lasts through the day without need for reapplication.

Whilst it might not be the most travel friendly option it really is such great value for money and really good, long lasting face powder.

£6.10 / 42.5g
