Hello August.

I realise it's a little late into the month to be writing this, since we're almost a week in. But how is it August already? It was raining earlier today so it really doesn't feel like we're in the midst of summer.

I heard that on Monday Selfridges launched their Christmas shop in the Oxford Street store. 143 days before Christmas, absolute madness! There's just no need for Santa statues, christmas trees and baubles at this time of year. Can we just slow down on trying to rush past this year and into the next.

But with the start of a new month I thought I'd reflect on the last one and what's to come in August.

July has been and gone in a flash. So what happened?

» IMATS was almost 4 weeks ago. It seems to have flown by and seem like it was ages ago but at the same time, not long ago at all. If you missed my posts on it you can check out an overview of the show here and the goodies I picked up here.

» I made a friend. It sounds kind of silly now that I type it but from someone who has extreme anxiety, it's really quite the achievement. I've known him for months but over the past couple of weeks we became the best of friends. Things happened that I won't go into but it was one of those make or break situations. It could have gone either way, thankfully it was the former and he has literally become my rock. I don't know what I'd do without him right now.

» I'll be the first to admit my blog posts can be a little scattered at times. In July I managed to make 11 posts, which may not seem like a lot to daily bloggers but I haven't posted that many in a month since January '14 (also 11). Very proud of myself for that and hoping I can get back on with regular posting. I think the key is to set aside a time each week to write and schedule posts so I don't have to do it at the last minute.

» I discovered the wonder that is Spotify. No idea why I hadn't used it before but I'm so glad I finally downloaded it. It's so nice not to have to download music and then sync it to my iPhone. I have access to millions of songs right at my fingertips. Plus it's a great way to find new tunes I wouldn't usually listen to.

So what does August have in store for me currently?

» Some of the Lush Oxford Street specials are making their way into stores on August 7 but some are already stocking them. I cannot wait to finally get my hands on the Comforter shower gel. Plus some of the exclusive bath bombs look absolutely amazing.

» The Great British Bake Off is back on our screens. I watched the first episode earlier on and I must say, I really expected Dorret and her mudslide show stopper.

» I get my first Flamingo Candles Melt Crowd box. It's a monthly subscription box that contains 8 solid scent melts, which you use in a wax burner with an unscented tea light. For just £10 (including delivery) and featuring exclusive scents, it really is a bargain. A lovely smelling one at that.

That's about all I can think of right now because I'm not doing what I said above about writing posts in advance. Instead I'm writing this to go up in 6 hours, whilst I try and stop myself from falling asleep. Oops.
