Things I Love Thursday #2.

I'm back again with a few more things that have put a smile on my face recently.

❤ If you haven't seen Thirteen, you need to. I usually skip the ads before Eastenders on iPlayer but this caught my attention and I couldn't get enough. Very gripping!

❤ This mug for those days when you just aren't feeling it.

❤ GorjessJewellery is a London based Etsy shop that sells unique, handmade pieces in argentium silver. They mostly specialise in necklaces but also have key chains, earrings and bracelets.

❤ Neko Atsume. If you haven't heard of it, where have you been? It's a cat collecting app. That's pretty much all you do, lure them to your garden with tasty treats and toys. I even managed to get my dog obsessed friend addicted to it.

Birchbox - Word Up.

Beauty box subscriptions are one of those things you tend to either love or hate. I personally love them. I always get excited when that little box of surprises shows up on my doorstep. Whilst there can be a product I don't get on with or won't get any use out of, I can usually send it off to a better home with my friends or family who'll get more use out of it.

Around this time last year I signed up to My Little Box. I loved it at first but over recent months I found the standards to slip more and more as the months went on. After a particularly underwhelming box I promptly cancelled my subscription and went on the hunt for a new one. After seeing Birchbox for so long and being constantly raved about I decided to take the plunge and sign up.

I love the idea behind the Birchbox points system after reviewing each product on the site. Meaning you can buy from a whole range of products on their website. I believe it works out as getting 50 points per box which is equal to £5 to spend.

Rituals - Foaming Shower Gel - T'ai Chi
£8.50 / 200ml
This comes out like a gel and as soon as you start massaging it in it turns into a lovely thick foam. A little bit goes a long way, I learnt that mistake by applying too much at once the first time. The scent is very subtle but nice enough, I wasn't expecting to like it but I really do.

Polaar - Polar Night Cream
£32 / 100ml
This cream is quite thick with no detectable scent until it's rubbed into the skin. Once massaged in it becomes a lot more perfumed, reminds me of something I had from The Body Shop when I was barely a teen. This cream is perfect for the skin whilst you're sleeping as it's rich and moisturising. My skin drinks it right up.

Number 4 - Reconstructing Masque
£36 / 145ml
I haven't used this yet, the small sachet doesn't seem like it would be enough for my hair as it's really long and thick. It's packed with soy proteins, shea butter, jojoba seed oil and sunflower oil. It sounds like the perfect combination if you colour or heat treat your hair. Shame it's so expensive!

Spectrum Collections - Tapered Finishing Brush
This was one of the products that stood out to me and one of the things that pushed me into signing up, when it featured in the February box. So I was quite surprised to receive it. Not only does this brush look absolutely stunning with its baby pink handle and coloured bristles, it's also incredibly soft. It's quite small in size so would use this for setting my t-zone rather than my entire face, perhaps even contouring. The entire brand is vegan and cruelty free which is a bonus.

ModelCo - More Brows - Medium To Dark
£13 / 3.5ml
This reminds me a lot of Benefit's Gimme Brow but for a slightly better price. It applies in the same way, giving the brows a tint and giving them a fuller appearance. I prefer to use this kind of brow product on days where I do light makeup but still need a little something.

Arrow - Colour Enhancing Lip Balm - Boost
£11 / 4g
I've heard of lip products like this that react with the natural pH balance, enhancing your natural lip colour.. Anyone remember the Barry M green lippie that did the same thing? On me the colour is a coral pink. This has a strong mint scent when first applied but it doesn't last for too long. It feels light, non greasy and moisturising on the lips.

Hoppy Easter!

I just wanted to hop on (geddit? I love a good pun) and wish all my readers a happy Easter.

Whatever you're doing, I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Working retail I only get one day off but I can't wait to have Christmas dinner all over again, mm! Along with spending time with family and eating novelty shaped chocolate.

I hope your Easter weekend (if you get one) is filled with all the things that make you happy.

BlogLovin - Instagram - Tumblr - Twitter

Yankee Candle - Bunny Cake.

It can't just be me that feels like it's too early to be Easter already, I mean wasn't it just Christmas?

I thought I'd pop up a quick review of a Yankee staple whilst you can still pick it up. It won't be long before it hops into hibernation for another year.

Bunny Cake is one of those fragrances that makes an appearance every Easter because it's so delightfully sweet, without the extra calories. So you can save those for a chocolate egg or two.

The first thing you smell is the bright citrus mixed with the creamy vanilla. Making for a light, sweet fragrance. Topped off with a sprinkling of sugary coconut.

What I love about this is that whilst it has a strong throw, the scent itself isn't to heavy and sweet. I find it more refreshing than anything else though of course it does lean towards the sweeter side of things.

Definitely one to pick up if you're a collector, or perhaps looking for a gift that isn't edible.

Flamingo Candles The Melt Crowd - March.

I always get excited when this lands through my letterbox. As I've said in possibly every post I've made about this subscription, it's a total bargain. I love having a new set of melts to burn through. It helps me explore scents that I probably wouldn't pick myself as I tend to go for the same kind - sweet and fruity.

Spring Break - I don't have much information behind this scent but it's light and fresh with a hint of floral notes.

BARE Ylang Ylang & Bergamot - A warming fragrance with a hint of citrus and underlying spice. Very unique.

Spearmint - Mint scents are one of those at people either or love or hate. I only like them if they have a hint of sweetness. This doesn't so I'm not that big on the scent, reminds me a little of mouthwash.

Bunny Kisses - I love anything rhubarb scented and this is no different. Sharp and tangy rhubarb mixed with creamy caramel vanilla custard. It smells good enough to eat.

French Lime Blossom - A light floral scent that doesn't seem all that strong. I'm not sure it'll have a very good throw.

Mango & Dragonfruit - This smells like the most delicious tropical fruits, it's amazing. Like a big delicious pitcher of cocktail.

Easter Egg - What could be better than a decadent, rich chocolate melt? I've smelt other chocolate candles before and they've never been that great but this smells just like a chocolate cupcake.

Very Vanilla - Finishing off the box we have a classic creamy vanilla scent. It smells warm and comforting, something that most people will love.

I Liked It So I Put A Ring On It.

It's been a hot minute since I showed my face on the blog. Shameful, I know! Upon looking at my archives the last one was posted at the beginning of 2014. Let's all just take a moment to appreciate how much my hair has changed since then.
I got a ring light recently and it has changed the game as far as selfies go. It looks so much more natural than using the flash. Plus it's super helpful when you're trying to contend with limited daylight. Hurrah for it being the first day of spring today though!

A couple of days ago I was invited along to a work awards do. It was to recognise colleagues who go above and beyond their duties. It's always nice to be recognised for the work that you put in on a daily basis, even on the days when you really don't feel like getting out of bed.

I decided to opt for simple makeup that I knew would last me throughout the day with no touch ups required. Classic winged liner and a bold red lip are always a winner.

NYX Liquid Suede.

Last summer seems like a distant memory but during that time NYX previewed a new lip product at Gen Beauty - Liquid Suede. There is currently twelve shades in the range with everything from a nude to an almost blackened grey.

NYX has always been a bit of a hassle to get here in the UK. Whilst there's numerous stockists, they only seem to carry a few bits with very limited shades and never get any new releases. Towards the end of last year NYX launched into Boots and we could all breath a sigh of relief. Finally somewhere to get your NYX fix and rack up those Boots points at the same time. Whilst the products are predominantly online, NYX stands are being introduced to certain Boots across the country.

Tea & Cookies, Life's A Beach, Pink Lust, Sway, Amethyst.

I decided to get the five shades that stood out the most to me.

Tea & Cookies - An everyday muted blush pink. I usually go for light, bright pinks (think Snob) so I don't really have anything like this. It's a nice change.

Life's A Beach - A bright coral that tends to lean more pink than orange. Not usually something I wear but I thought I would try and be more adventurous come summertime.

Pink Lust - A perfect hot pink with just a hint of blue to keep it from being too warm.

Sway - A light lavender that looks a little more purple in person. Supposedly a dupe for Blow Pony by Jeffree Star. I can see this being paired with Amethyst for an ombre lip.

Amethyst - A rich mid-tone purple. Pulls just a tad more blue on camera. Not something everyone will want to wear but I myself adore a good purple lip.

Liquid Suede is their take on the liquid lipstick trend. Highly saturated colour that dries to a semi matte finish. The drying time differs per shade and it can occasionally leave a tacky feeling on the lips. But I found dusting a little translucent powder over the top combats that feeling and makes them matte. They apply with a large doe foot applicator and whilst it deposits just the right amount of product, it's difficult to get a crisp clean line around the edge of your lips.

The formula contains glycerin, olive oil and avocado oil which makes the formula more wet than a regular liquid lipstick. But it keeps lips from drying out too much. Once it's fully dry you don't tend to get any transfer when drinking or eating besides oily food, like you'd expect from any liquid lipstick.

Overall I think these are a good option if you're on a budget, or perhaps looking to experiment with colours that are out of your comfort zone. Whilst the feel on your lips can take some getting used to they last a significant amount of time on the lips.

Palmer's Coconut Oil Hand Cream.

Palmer's is one of those brands that have been around for absolute years. One that I'm sure we've all tried in the past. Some people love it, others not so much. I tend to fall into the latter category because I'm really not big on the smell.

Just recently they came out with a new coconut oil formula. The range consists of four products - a body lotion, a body oil, a body cream and a hand cream. Being that I love all things coconut scented, I decided to pick up the hand cream and see how it performed.

First thing I noticed when picking this up was the lack of nasties as listed on the front. No parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, gluten, sulfates or dyes.

So what's in it? Coconut oil has been everywhere in the beauty industry for the last few years. The multipurpose oil can be used for cooking, shaving, deep conditioning hair and rubbing into stubborn dry skin, just to name a few of it's uses. So it's no surprise that it's one of the main ingredients in this. Along with it's moisturising properties it helps scent the product, giving it a wonderfully natural coconut scent.

It also contains monoï oil which is something I've not heard of before but it's made from soaking the petals of Tahitian gardenias in coconut oil. When used on the skin it soothes and moisturises. Alongside almond oil which helps keep nails healthy and strong.

From the first application I felt the difference after using it. It's quite thick in texture but easily sinks in without leaving behind a tacky layer on the skin. It leaves my skin feeling silky smooth without feeling like I've really applied anything. I can't stop applying this it just feels so lovely on the skin.

I usually get lazy with applying hand cream as I hate when it leaves behind that tacky feeling. But this is something I've been applying daily since I picked it up.

Yankee Candle - Jelly Beans.

Every now and then Yankee release a scent that sends everyone in to a frenzy. Last Easter they released a new sent to their usual small limited edition line. Jelly Beans was released in large jar form only and it seemed to sell out everywhere extremely quickly.

So much so that people were selling the large jar for upwards of £40. People have even been selling scrapings to use in a wax burner for £3 a bag. For a tiny scraping of wax? Madness.

Well if you're looking to get your hands on it, it's back this year in large jar alongside a votive and wax melt.

In 2015 it was marketed as Jelly Beans. In 2016 it seems they've labelled it as Jelly Bean - I'm not sure why the change, it seems somewhat pointless.

I was debating whether to burn this because it's stamped with an Easter egg, stating it's a collectors addition. For review purposes I decided to give this a little burn whilst I was working on things for my blog this afternoon.

This candle has the most easiest and cleanest burn I've got from a Yankee Candle before. Sometimes I find where the wax is curved in at the top of the jar, it gets a little stubborn on the first burn and refuses to melt but not with this one.

As for the scent, it's described as bursting with sugary sweet fruits. In the jar the sweetness is what you notice first but when burning you get more of the fruits coming through. So it's not overpowering with the sugar. It fills my entire bedroom with a wonderful, light fruity scent.

If you've been meaning to get your hands on it, don't hesitate as I can't see it hanging around for much longer.

Pandora Moments.

For the longest time I've been wanting a Pandora charm bracelet. I love the idea that it's so personal an individual to each person.

I also thought the patented technology behind the bracelet, clips and threading is really interesting. The bracelet has two threads, each a third into the chain. Alongside two threads either side of the clasp.

The theory behind the threads is that the majority of Pandora charms are able to be threaded onto the bracelet, meaning if you take it off or the clasp happens to break your charms won't slide right off. The two threads on the bracelet are made to house clips, which are a different kind of charm and as the name suggests, they clip right on and stay in place. Preventing your charms from sliding up and down your bracelet.

I thought I'd give you a run down of what I currently have on my bracelet because I love it and it just makes me smile. I can't wait to add to it.

This heart clasped version is a different take on the regular round clasps, which is what drew me to. I think it just looks so sweet. On one side the Pandora symbol is engraved and the other side has the brand name. I did find it fiddly to do up at first because where the bracelet is attached to the clasp, they're both placed at different angles rather than being horizontal and aligned. The snake chain starts off quite rigid and stiff but with wear it loosens up after a while and becomes more comfortable to wear.

I wanted to pick one of these up eventually but I ended up doing it sooner rather than later. This helped with fastening it one handed due to stiffness that bracelet has to start with, you end up just chasing it around your wrist. Pandora only have a very small selection of safety chains and this ended up being the only one I liked.

First thing I knew I needed alongside a bracelet was a clip. I've had my eye on a couple of the floral ones but since the bracelet and clip were a Christmas present, I opted for a more wintery themed one for now. I'm definitely a night owl and I absolute love stars so I felt this clip would be right at home on my bracelet. The added bonus of all the sparkly little cubic zirconia makes it truly twinkle.

This was a Christmas gift from one of my very best friends. It was a lot of meaning behind it to us both but it's something I like to keep for us, you know? But anyway, this adorable little piggy came out towards the end of last year when Pandora released a collection of animal charms. All modelled on the same sort of design they have everything from a cat to a panda, there's even an adorable little giraffe! He has a plain back but his smiling little face always wins me over.

Lastly (for now) I have this absolutely beautiful spacer. As soon as I saw the promotional images before it was even released, I knew I had to have it. If you know me you know I love anything shiny, more so if it shines different colours. This charm may be small in size but it is absolutely stunning. The princess cut crystals are a milky looking blue, looking whiter in some lights. When the light hits it fiery oranges and reds seem to glow from within. It truly captures the essence of how opals glow.

Tastes Like Glitter x Plannable Designs.

I will hold my hands up right now and admit that I'm a pretty disorganised person. I'm that person who writes everything on scraps of paper and ends up losing them. So starting this year I decided to get that under control and become more organised, not just in my day to day life but to help with the blog too. I will have a whole separate post on my experience with the Erin Condren Life Planner.

I don't know how I came across but there's a massive planner community over on Instagram and Etsy.

When I was messaged by the lovely Melissa on Instagram about working on a limited edition kit together, I was over the moon. I had the chance to create the perfect weekly kit with all the elements I go for.

Running with my blog name I decided to opt for a full on glitter theme but without any of the mess that it usually leaves behind.

Working together with Melissa was a breeze, even after finishing this project she was extremely helpful and quick to reply to messages regarding my orders.

The stickers themselves are weighty, in the sense that they aren't flimsy and printed onto extremely high quality sticker paper. Glitter is a hard one to capture in images but the images we opted for translated fantastically during the printing process.

The kit itself has over 150 stickers, which I've detailed below. That's enough to create the perfect week and still have stickers left over.

Overall I've had nothing but brilliant customer service from Melissa on both her Instagram on small things, such as queries on what she's posted. Along with private messages regarding orders I've made. She's a lovely girl who runs a fantastic shop, full of weekly kits that are really great value for money and contain everything you could possibly need for a weekly layout. I cannot recommend the Plannable Designs shop highly enough.

The limited edition Glitter Warrior kit includes -
7 x today / little things / to do title boxes
6 x patterend full boxes
3 x quote full boxes
1 x weekly habits tracker
2 x weekend banners
3 x work flags
12 x full box heart checklists
12 x mini heart checklists
6 x patterned heart checklist half boxes
12 x meal planner stickers
4 x movie stickers
9 x hydrate stickers
12 x work schedule stickers
4 x patterned to do checklists half boxes
5 x planner book stickers
4 x glitter circles

Lush Lip Scrub - The Kiss.

I had planned to get this review up before this product was taken off the site, but alas February was not a great month for me so here we are! This was first released for Valentine's 2015 and was rereleased for 2016 also. I thought I'd pop up a little review as I have no doubt they'll bring it back next year.

Upon opening the jar you're greeted with a delightful, bright pink sugar scrub embedded with edible red sequin hearts. It shares it's scent with The Kiss lipgloss which I have personally never tried but again, it's one they release year after year. It's a fizzy, candy scent that reminds me of Love Hearts.

I've tried numerous different scrub variations from Lush and I think this is quite possible my favourite. It's not as sickly as the Bubblegum scrub which is the one it's most comparable to.

Whilst all Lush scrubs have a base of caster sugar this one feels slightly smoother and less dry in texture on the lips. Compared to Popcorn it definitely feels a little less coarse. It contains fair trade cocoa butter which feels incredibly moisturising when you massage it into the lips.

The best way I find to apply it is after I've cleansed and moisturised for the night. I lick my lips, dip a clean finger into the pot and massage the scrub into the lips before licking it off, yummy! Following it up with an intensive lip balm before bed so it can really get to work overnight. In the morning you're left with super smooth lips, ready for whatever lip product you decide to wear for the day.

I definitely recommend picking one of these up and adding it to your nightly routine. It really helps keep your lips in tip top condition, giving you a perfect base for liquid lipsticks since they can be incredibly unforgiving.

Things I Love Thursday #1.

I thought I would start a new little series on my blog. Lately I've been feeling really down, both within myself and life in general. So I thought I would introduce a post that I've seen many other bloggers do, whereby I focus on the positive things I've been loving lately.

The start of a new month brings us a whole host of new Netflix additions. One of them being Bates Motel Season 3. I'm currently binge watching whilst I write and plan blog posts for the week.

Alongside that I've been watching Better Call Saul Season 2. It's a Breaking Bad prequel but I hate how Netflix aren't uploading all the episodes at once like they do with things such as OITNB. Only watching one a week is torture.

❤ This wall art is something that I need to remind myself of daily. That and 'if you're going through hell, keep going'.

❤ These Adidas Superstars that come with all over silver holo. So shiny! I'd snap them up in a heartbeat for summer, if only they weren't sold out in my size. Could you imagine how amazing they'd look once the sun made an appearance?

Mars milkshake with mountains of fluffy whipped cream, delicious. Now seems like an acceptable time for Easter goodies to start appearing in the shops. MaltEaster bunnies are my absolute favourite chocolatey treat. If you haven't tried them, you really should.

Lighter evenings. It's nearly 5:00pm and it's still light outside, lovely!

Glossybox - February.

I'm a little late in posting this as it's now March 1st. February wasn't a great month for me, I was sick quite a few times and it threw me off balance. But we're heading out of winter and into spring and I can't wait for that. Warmer weather makes everything better.

February bought us the 'Beauty Soulmates' box*. The design on the box is beautiful and absolutely perfect for Valentine's.

Nicka K New York - 24H Waterproof Eyeliner - Dark Brown
£3.99 / 0.3g
Brown liner is something I only reach for when I have watery eyes, usually from not sleeping. It helps my eyes look a little more awake without being stark against my pale skin.
This doesn't smudge out very well but it seems to me long wearing and stays where it's supposed to with little transfer.

MUA - Power Pout Glaze Low Voltage Gloss - Serenity
£3.50 / 3.2ml
I tend to favour lipstick over gloss now that my hair is longer. Getting it caught in lipgloss and dragged across your face is not a good look.
I'm not a fan of this gloss both in terms of the formula and the applicator. I find that when you twist it up, it starts dispensing far too much product. The gloss has a sticky, thick feel to it with just a little colouring. I think if this was packaged better, with a wand perhaps, then perhaps I wouldn't dislike it.

Wilkinson Sword - Intuition Ultra Moisture Razor
I've used this razor before after receiving in a previous box. Although it's bulky design means it isn't as aesthetically please as other razors on the market, it still does a wonderful job without the need for any additional product.
Just wet the head and it will begin to release the embedded moisturising cream meaning you don't have to apply shaving gel beforehand.

Naobay - Protective Hair Mask Volume Conditioner
£10.64 / 200ml
Deep conditioning treatments are something I love but don't do nearly enough. This mask claims to give hair volume whilst conditioning with shea butter and argan oil. It has a light citrus scent and as someone who loves heat styling, I can't wait to slather my hair in it.

Browtician - Love Skull Limited Edition Tweezers
In my opinion you can never have too many pairs of tweezers. I use them for numerous different things so these are a welcome addition. The brightly coloured pattern makes them stand out against the regular stainless steel you usually see.
